Zac Efron doesn’t think he’s talented enough to launch a music career.
The 30-year-old actor has often showcased his voice for the screen, shooting to fame in Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ franchise and his singing is on display in new Michael Gracey’s movie ‘The Greatest Showman’.
Zac has been offered the chance to make an album in the past but he doesn’t think he deserves to be occupying the same space as talented musicians like Ed Sheeran.
When asked if he has ever been approached by a record label, Zac told News.com.au: "I mean, ages ago. I don’t know if I’m ready for that life. I admire the people that do it right – the Ed Sheerans. I think they’re tremendous. There’s no room for me. There’s real geniuses out there succeeding. There’s so many great people doing it, why do I belong there?"
But Zac is proud to have made so many musical movies and he admits he loves the genre.
While promoting ‘The Greatest Showman’ – which also stars Hugh Jackman and Zendaya – he said: "I’m happy to be in musicals. I’m the musical guy. I’m a different kind of guy. There’s no suits or masks involved and I’m not fighting crime but we are flying around and we are telling people really important messages and being brave."
‘The Greatest Showman’ tells the story of P.T. Barnum – an American showman, politician, and businessman remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus – who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
Jackman, 49, stars as the ring master and recently revealed he went against doctor’s orders to sing at his audition – just a day after he underwent a skin cancer operation on his nose.
