Steps won’t work together for another four years.
The ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ group – which consists of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee, and Ian ‘H’ Watkins – have enjoyed a string of hit albums and sellout arena tours since reuniting in 2017 but they currently have no plans to do anything until their 30th anniversary because they think fans have “had enough” of them.
Speaking at the Attitude Awards, H told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “The next milestone in our discography is our 30th anniversary. That’s in four years. Look, you’ve had enough of us. We’ve done five albums and six tours in the last six years. So we need a bit of time.”
And the 47-year-old singer already has a big idea in mind for when they do get back in the studio.
He said: “The top of my list would be to do a collab with Kylie. We could revisit ‘Better The Devil’. We’ve not got there yet.”
In August, Claire confirmed the group were busy with solo projects at the moment but predicted they’d be ready to get back together next year.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “We’ve no solid plans for anything. I think because we said at the end of last year that we were going to have a little bit of a break. And we did do Brighton Pride, so it almost feels like we haven’t had one!
“And obviously, I’ve got the album and hopefully, next year will be spent doing more of kind of solo stuff.
“Probably towards the end of next year, we’ll start talking about what we’re going to do. But yeah, we’re always talking to each other and coming up with ideas and things so I’m pretty sure it won’t be too long.”
