You Me At Six are hosting their own vegan pop-up ‘You Me At Shish’ to celebrate the release of their new album ‘VI’.
Josh Franceschi and co are inviting fans to come down to the Temple Goods Cafe, Hackney Downs Studios, London, on October 5, to sample some free You Me At Six-inspired food – created by fast food company Temple of Seitan – and cocktails soundtracked by an acoustic set by the band and special guest DJs.
The band announced: "To celebrate the release of ‘VI’ we’re having a party in London. Our friends @templeofseitan are putting together a special YMAS vegan menu and YMAS cocktails.
Come down, it’s free! 18+ only. (sic)"
Josh recently teased that ‘VI’ sounds like "The Weeknd being smacked in the face with rock music".
The ‘Underdog’ hitmakers previously said they hope the record will be "career-defining" as they admitted to feeling "underwhelmed" by 2017’s ‘Night People’, and said they weren’t afraid to mix their hip-hop influences, including the ‘Starboy’ rapper, with their guitar roots with the encouragement of producer Dan Austin (Biffy Clyro).
Josh told BANG Showbiz: "Dan Austin is one of the most remarkable people we have ever worked with.
"He just elevated our confidence and desire.
"He became the sixth member of the band.
"You could turn around to him and go, ‘This song is essentially our R&B song on the record, how do we do it and not make it feel like we are a guitar band?’
"He wasn’t scared and was like, ‘Yeah, let’s f***ing do that.’
"Whereas some producers are like, ‘Stay in your lane’, and we are like, ‘Nah, man.’
"Dan has been doing a lot of work on Logic (software) and this album has a lot of dance songs.
"Like The Weeknd being smacked in the face with rock music.
"I think that Dan really encouraged that."
Fans can arrive at the Temple Goods Cafe, Hackney Downs Studios, 17 Amhurst Terrace, E8 2BT from 6PM, October 5, for an opportunity to meet the band, buy copies of ‘VI’, get exclusive merch, sample the exclusive ‘You Me At Shish’ menu, cocktails and watch a special acoustic set at 7PM, followed by DJ sets into the evening.
