Years & Years are planning to release a new album next year.
The ‘Eyes Shut’ hitmakers are keen to take a break from their globe-trotting careers in September and bury themselves in the studio as they start penning tracks for their second LP.
Frontman Olly Alexander told The Sun newspaper: "Around September we’ll take a break and start work on the album."
And, although they’re yet to take pen to paper, Olly has already started thinking about potential collaborators and is desperate to get Rihanna on board their next release.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz recently, he said: "We’ve started thinking about it [the next album]. We’ve got ideas. I want to do a song with Rihanna we need to make that work."
Meanwhile, it seems a well-deserved break is urgently needed after the group – also consisting of Mikey Goldsworth and Emre Türkmen – were forced to pull the plug on nine of their US shows two weeks ago after Olly unexpectedly fell ill.
The band – who were touring with Ellie Goulding – were also left with no choice but to axe shows earlier in the month after the 25-year-old hunk picked up a viral infection and was lacking so much energy he couldn’t move from his bed.
He said at the time: "Hello bbs. ThankU for all ur nice words and support and good health wishes – I got some weird viral illness about four days ago and I’ve not really been able to get out of bed since.
"I am on the mend and feel better today tho. I really hate having to pull shows, I’m so sorry guys – the doctor has advised me not to perform tonight in Bethlehem and get more rest. Thanku guys for being so understanding and to EG and her crew as well. lots of love. Olly. (sic)"
It’s not yet known whether the forthcoming UK dates – which kick off in London on June 11 – will still go ahead.
