WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler wants to become a late night talk show host.
The 35-year-old grappler is one of the most exciting competitors on World Wrestling Entertainment’s flagship TV show ‘RAW’ but away from the ring he has tried his hand at comedy and acting.
Now he wants to launch his own chat show with WWE interviewer Renee Young on the WWE Network, which would show off his humour and see the pair tackling celebrity guests.
He told BANG Showbiz: " I’m an entertainer. I’ve been writing stand-up material for 20 years. Any time I get a day off, which is maybe 40/50 days a year, I find a way to go do stand-up or tell some jokes online, or go to an open mic at a coffee shop because I want to be the best I can possibly as an entertainer.
"Someone who I really like working with at the WWE is Renee Young. We’ve actually pitched a couple different ideas for the Network to possibly have a late night talk show … It would be great to be something along the lines of a Comedy Central show meets a late night talk show. Just something where we can have fun and use our improvisation skills and our training, and have a blast. I think we could start a great, entertaining show."
Dolph – who will be giving WWE fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with him at a unique WWE Workout Experience in London on April 18 – thinks he and Renee would make a great hosting team because they have an easy rapport with one another.
He added: "The two of us have dabbled in stand up; we’ve dabbled in entertainment, in movies. We’re just hard working people that constantly want to entertain, that bring a different facet, and show these different views of that we’re not just guys who run around the ring, fall down and bump into each other. She’s someone who is really great and I’m a big fan of hers. We get on well."
Dolph will be competing in a seven-man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship against the title holder Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, The Miz and Stardust at ‘WrestleMania 32’ on Sunday night (03.04.16).
You can watch that match and the entire extravaganza from Dallas on the WWE Network.
