Woody Harrelson nearly turned down Solo: A Star Wars Story

Woody Harrelson was all set to turn down his role in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ until he found out Phoebe Waller-Bridge was in the movie.
The 57-year-old actor – who portrayed Tobias Beckett in the standalone Han Solo film – has admitted if it wasn’t for the fact the 33-year-old actress had the part of droid L3-37 in the film, he would have passed on the job because he had planned to have some time off with his family.
Revealing he is a huge fan of his pal Phoebe’s BBC Three comedy series ‘Fleabag’, he said: "Oh god, I just love Phoebe.
"She is just such a delightful, fun and uplifting friend.
"A friend of mine told me about ‘Fleabag’ and I watched it all. I love it.
"Love it! There aren’t many episodes and I wish there were more.
"Luckily she is doing another season.
"I was really debating doing this film and, in fact, I actually turned it down at first because I had been on such a long string of work and I just wanted to be home with my family.
"Thankfully I ended up doing it because I now can’t imagine not knowing Phoebe."
Woody also revealed that the cast had a karaoke battle one weekend.
The ‘Venom’ star revealed the antics he and his colleagues, including Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, Phoebe and Donald Glover, got up to in their downtime.
‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia, 31, invited them all around to her house for a sing-a-long one evening, and Woody recalled how Donald – who is also a rapper under the name Childish Gambino – blew them away with a rendition of a Prince song.
Asked if there was much socialising with his co-stars, he told the Metro newspaper: "Well, I was really good buddies with Thandie but I got on great with everybody.
"We spent a lot of time together in the day, so for pretty much everybody there was no socialising during the week, but we would get together on the weekends.
"We had a karaoke session one time at Emilia’s house.
"Me and Phoebe did some duet and I thought we were all doing great, then Donald started singing some Prince song and I was like, ‘Oh my god, now I know why they call these guys the professionals.’
"None of us would follow that."
