The first day will see riders from 22 teams travel from Leeds to Harrogate, and the second day will begin in York and end in Sheffield after the county beat off competition from the likes of Edinburgh, Scotland and Florence, Italy, to host the start of the prestigious 2, 272, mile contest, which also travels through Belgium and Spain before finishing in Paris, France, on 27 July.
The royal trio are big supporters of cycling and cheered on Team GB’s men’s sprint team at the 2012 London Olympics.
And William and Catherine – who have 10-month-old son Prince George together – are fans of London Mayor Boris Johnson’s cycle hire scheme.
