Will Young’s ‘dandy’ after Strictly Come Dancing exit

Will Young feels "absolutely dandy" following his early exit from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 37-year-old singer – who was one of the favourites to lift the famous glitterball trophy at the end of the series – shocked the nation when he announced he had quit the ballroom and latin show due to "personal reasons".
And, despite viewers speculating his on-screen feud with head judge Len Goodman over his energetic Salsa had something to do with his decision, Will is adamant his departure was "undramatic" and he’ll still support the show.
Speaking in a text message to Chris Evans, which the radio DJ read out live on air during his BBC Radio 2 ‘Breakfast Show’ on Wednesday (12.10.16), Will said: "Here’s the thing. I’m absolutely dandy, thanks. It’s all very undramatic, really. I’ve done my statement and others can say what they want to say. I never read what they say anyway. To be a part of ‘Strictly…’ has been a long time ambition of mine. As a performer, a viewer, and a fan of the show, to dance as a contestant was an experience I always hoped for.
"I have made some great friends, and am in awe of their performances week in, week out. I have found a creative partnership with Karen [Clifton, his professional partner] that has been the most wonderful thing to experience."
It was initially thought Tameka Empson – who was eliminated last weekend – could take his place but bosses are adamant no one will be re-joining the series.
A representative for ‘Strictly…’ said: "The series will continue as planned with an elimination every week until the grand final. The previous eliminated contestants will not be returning to the competition."
The ‘Leave Right Now’ hitmaker’s departure has left his professional partner Karen "so sad" but she understands that he didn’t make the decision lightly.
She wrote on Twitter shortly after the news broke: "I know it wasn’t an easy decision for him. It was great dancing with him, he was such fun to work with and I wish him all the very best for the future."
