Will Mellor wants to return to ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 43-year-old actor – who shot to fame after playing Jambo Bolton in the soap for three years from its launch date in 1995 until 1998 – would love to be involved in the soap’s 25th anniversary celebrations next year as he wants to say "thank you" for the career boost it gave him.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Personally, I’d like to do something just to say thank you.
"But it’s so difficult with schedules. Because it’s a soap, they have to book you up for a long time and that could mean missing out on another job that could be better for me to do, as Hollyoaks would only be going back for a little cameo.
"But I do owe the show a lot."
Show boss Bryan Kirkwood revealed in September he was keen to get Will – who had a cameo in a 2004 episode during a dream sequence – and Terri Dwyer, who played Ruth Osbourne, back for the anniversary celebrations.
He said: "We’ve got John Paul McQueen and Warren Fox returning with amazing James Sutton and Jamie Lomas arriving.
"They’re on screen in January which sets off the 25th year really nicely. We are talking about going further back in time to the very early days of the show [for returns] as we approach the 25th birthday in October, but there’s nothing confirmed yet."
Bryan promised that Jamie Lomas’ return is going to "explode" into life next year.
Jamie’s gangster alter ego previously kidnapped the twins he shares with his ex Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) leaving her heartbroken and bereft and his return will show a new villainous side as she battles to get her kids back.
Teasing the exciting storyline, Bryan said: "That’s one of the best long-running tensions in the show, Sienna and her missing twins. Warren’s off somewhere in the world with her twins.
"We kind of racked our brains as to why Warren would ever lay himself open to be found by Sienna. But we think we’ve come up with a very good reason why Warren and the twins and Sienna meet again and that will explode in January."
