Wiley feels "responsible" for Dizzee Rascal being stabbed in Ayia Napa 14 years ago.
The once-close friends haven’t seen eye-to-eye since the infamous incident, in which the ‘Bonkers’ hitmaker was hospitalised after a gang knifed him in the Cypriot party town in 2003, but the ‘Heatwave’ singer feels like he’s to blame for the attack – even though he wasn’t the one who pulled out the weapon – because he was there with him at the time.
Wiley – whose real name is Richard Cowie Jnr – told The Sun Online: "I love that boy. He knows I love that boy but we’re not gonna be friends, not because we argue. We’re not gonna be friends anymore because he holds me responsible for being stabbed.
"And I take responsibility – I didn’t stab him – I take responsibility because he was with me but after 14 years I would have thought you would have realised I didn’t stab you."
Dizzee, 33, reignited his feud with the 38-year-old grime artist earlier this month when he threatened on Twitter – in a since-deleted post – to kill his rival "one of these days" after they got into a row over who invented the genre of music they’re both successful in.
Dizzee said: "I was making Grime when Wiley was on Top of the pops with Pay as you Go and shacking up with school l girls. I’m not the Godfather I’m GOD"
To which Wiley replied: "Dizzee you have 1 classic grime album you are not god and you haven’t helped anyone in grime except yourself.Who took you to nick ? (sic)"
But, although they clearly have some bad blood between them, Wiley wants his ex-pal and "try and understand" the situation and hopes that one day they can sort things out.
He said: "I don’t want to put you under the bus. I just want you to try and understand I didn’t stab you and I’m not your enemy. If you don’t want to talk forever. That’s fine."
Wiley previously opened up about the stabbing and explained how he and another guy had continued the fight with the gang of knifers – but Dizzee was the one who got hurt.
He explained at the time: "Basically, me and Dizzee went out one night [in Ayia Napa] and there was some fighting with another crew
"Then the next day, I decided to carry it on – I didn’t pull out a knife. I was just fighting. Me and another guy went looking for them again.
"Dizzee just rode off, because in his head, he’s probably thinking: ‘What the f*** are you doing? Well, after we started it up again, those guys came looking for us.
"But the person they found was Dizzee. The thing we done the next morning led them to go looking for us, but see him and stab him."
