Vincent Cassel won’t push daughters into acting

Vincent Cassel has admitted he won’t push his daughters into acting.
While the trade runs in the family – Cassel’s father Jean-Pierre Cassel was an actor who starred in an array of films, including 2000’s ‘The Crimson River’- the star says his eldest daughter Deva, 11, hasn’t yet shown any signs that she wants to follow in his footsteps and revealed he has no plans to direct her towards the bright lights of Hollywood.
In an interview with Metro newspaper, Cassel said: "I am not going to push that because acting is only wonderful when you are a working actor and you find a real meaning to it. Nowadays, a lot of kids just want to be famous. I understand that and wanted to be famous too as a younger guy. If she really understands why she wants to do it, then why not? Because it’s a wonderful life when you are working."
The 49-year-old star, who coached Natalie Portman in the film ‘Black Swan’, also has six-year-old daughter Leonie with Italian actress Monica Bellucci, from whom he separated from in 2013.
As a working parent who splits his time between his homes in Rio and Paris, where he is shooting his new film ‘Fleuve Noir’ – a movie about a drunken cop who has to look for a kid who disappears – Cassel has said he will always worry about his daughters growing up.
He added: "The job we have to do with our kids is to make them independent. I need to make sure she doesn’t get f***ed up and stressed out and start hanging out with assholes. If she needs to do that at somepoint in her life, what can I say? I will be worried all the time because that’s what it’s like to be a parent, but you can’t lead your kids’ lives for them. At some point you have to let go and trust them, I guess."
