Viggo Mortensen is set to write, produce, star in, and direct the upcoming drama ‘Falling’.
The 59-year-old star will, in fact, be making his directorial debut with the release of the new movie, which tells the story of a son’s relationship with his father.
Viggo has written the screenplay and will also appear as one of the two leading roles, playing a man who lives with his male partner and their adopted daughter.
Lance Henriksen will star alongside him as a farmer who has a traditional attitude towards family.
And so when the father travels to Los Angeles to stay with his family, the duo clash over their contrasting approaches to life.
Looking forward to the new movie, Gabrielle Stewart, the managing director of HanWay Films, said: "The industry has always regarded Viggo as a really soulful artist. He is a talented photographer, poet, and musician.
"His screenplay for ‘Falling’ is a powerful, well-observed family drama. We are thrilled to be part of his promising and exciting directorial debut."
Meanwhile, Viggo previously claimed he’s always keen to take on challenging projects.
Speaking about his approach to acting, he explained: "If I think it’s an interesting story, but I don’t think I can do it – then that’s probably a good sign.
"Each time I make a movie, it’s like a paid scholarship to a different university course. It’s up to you – you can just learn the script and certain mannerisms, props you might be given to play your part and do a technically great job, but I love the opportunity."
