Victoria Ekanoye has thanked ‘Coronation Street’ fans for their support after she departed the soap last night (07.01.19).
The ‘Corrie’ star’s character Angie Appleton left the cobbles in a taxi after 18 months in Weatherfield, and the 36-year-old star admits her stint on the soap was "better than I ever expected".
Sharing a selfie with her on-screen tot Romeo Cheetham-Karcz, who plays George Appleton, she wrote: "And that’s a wrap
Bye for now, from me and this beautiful little boy
Thank you to all of the @itvcorrie family, you made my 18 months better than I ever expected and I love the stinking lot of ya! (sic)"
However, Victoria’s exit sparked somewhat of a supporter backlash last night after she left under the radar in the middle of an episode.
One wrote: "Don’t understand why they got rid of Angie. She had so much potential. Disappointed. (sic)"
Another posted: "HOW DARE Angie leave!!!! what is she doing? where is she going?
She let Jude ruin her cobble life before she’d even tried the new costa coffee.
NAH this is WRONG!!!!!!!! (sic)"
One Twitter user shared: "Getting rid of characters like Angie, why? She had potential, far better than the deadwood the writers hold on to. #corrie (sic)"
And some supporters have already called for Angie to return to the cobbles.
One wrote: "Bring Angie back, Corrie! She should join the solicitors’ practice with Adam and Imran. It would add another dimension having more scenes set there. And having more Mary is always necessary. (sic)"
Victoria recently revealed she uses young George to hide her "food belly" after a large lunch.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Her work clothes are very nice. I like her mini dresses and they’re quite fitted.
"But they leave no room for having a large lunch. You can’t have a large lunch as Angie.
"I have to be careful. I love food, I’m such a foodie. I love cooking.
"It’s good because sometimes I’ve got the baby, so I can hide my food belly."
