Victoria Beckham "ignores the nonsense" critics say about her family.
The 44-year-old fashionista and her family – including husband David Beckham and children Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and Harper, seven – have been in the spotlight for around two decades, and the star says that during that time she’s learned how to ignore what people say about her, in order to focus on their "family bond".
Speaking about the importance of family, the former Spice Girl said: "People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal. But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair … We both realise that we are stronger together than we are as individuals. Would either of us be in the position that we are in now had we not met and been together all those years ago? It’s all about the family unit. We are much stronger the six of us, than we would be if we were individuals. We respect that family bond and that is key."
Victoria also spoke about her youngest child and only daughter Harper, who she says is "quite girly" but is also influenced by her three older brothers.
Speaking to British Vogue magazine, Victoria added: "She’s been able to run in Alaïa platforms since she was three. On one hand, she’s quite girly, but on the other hand she has three big brothers and likes to run around and play football. She’s not scared of being pushed over … She wants to be an inventor."
The fashion mogul’s views on family come after she took to social media over the weekend to heap praise on her son Romeo, in honour of his 16th birthday.
She wrote: "Happy Birthday Romeo! Can’t believe our baby is 16 today!!! We all love you so so much @romeobeckham xxx
"Happy Birthday @romeobeckham x we love u! @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham@cruzbeckham #harperseven (sic)"
