Vicky McClure wants to make another This Is England film

Vicky McClure wants to reunite with director Shane Meadows for another ‘This Is England’ story.
The 35-year-old actress played Lol in the 2006 British drama film about a group of young skinheads growing up in 1983 in a working class area of Northern England and it spawned three critically acclaimed mini TV series.
Vicky is close friends with Shane and is always open to revisiting that character but although he has an idea for a story for a second feature-length film there are no definite plans to start work on it – yet.
In an interview on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, hosted by Fearne Cotton, on Tuesday (19.03.19), she said: "I live really close to Shane so we see each other and we speak and it’s never like the first thing we talk about but it’s always sort of mentioned. We’d both would love to do it. I’m sure all of the cast would love to do it. It’s just not something that’s on the cards at the moment so I wouldn’t want to get anyone excited without it being set in stone. But he’s got an idea and I’ve heard it and it would be incredible."
The most recent series, ‘This Is England ’90’, aired in 2015 and saw the group of friends – played by Thomas Turgoose, Andrew Shim, Rosamund Hanson and Joseph Gilgun among others – embrace rave culture as the England football team reaches the semi-final of the World Cup in Italy.
Stephen Graham has played violent skinhead and Lol’s unlikely saviour Andrew ‘Combo’ Gascoigne in the ‘This Is England’ series he and Vicky have been reunited in the upcoming new series of BBC police drama ‘Line of Duty’.
Vicky insists Stephen, 45, is fantastic in his new mysterious villainous role in the programme and is utterly convincing despite being such a nice guy in real life.
The actress – who plays DC Kate Fleming – said: "Stephen in real life is the loveliest guy in the world but he can play a very menacing character. We’re dealing with really hardened criminals this time and Stephen’s a part of that and he does it brilliantly."
