Vick Hope: Shirley Ballas ‘relished in’ dance criticism

Vick Hope claims Shirley Ballas "relished" in criticising her dances on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Capital Breakfast’ show host was eliminated from the BBC One show last weekend, and while she claims the show judge’s condemnation has been "consistent", she insists it was "really weird" on Saturday night (20.10.18).
When asked by her co-host Roman Kemp why his mum called him after ‘Strictly’ and said, "Why does Shirley Ballas hate Vick Hope?", the 29-year-old radio DJ replied: "I wish I knew.
"I think I’ve gotta be careful what I say here, because you never know what someone’s thinking. And it was from week one that people were suggesting there was something there, I don’t know. It’s been consistent and Saturday night I really felt it was just weird, wasn’t it?
"I’d never really been spoken to like that. She really relished in it."
Vick also revealed the producers had to be called in after she and dance partner Graziano Di Prima’s dance-off against Seann Walsh and Katya Jones.
She said: "We had to have a dance-off as well – it was very strange – so after the dance-off, then the judges have to give their decisions but there was a bit of a conflab with some producers and then they gave their decisions, and it was just stunned silence in the studio, it was a really weird atmosphere."
While ‘Strictly’ judge Craig Revel Horwood voted for her, Vick admits he is a "puppy dog" in real life and puts on an "act" for TV.
She said: "Craig Revel Horwood was the one that actually voted for me.
"You know what, after the show he was the only judge who came up to me, he hugged me, we chatted for ages, we had a drink together, he said he was really sad to see me go.
"He’s really nice. He’s like a puppy dog, he just puts on the whole act."
Vick presents ‘Capital Breakfast’ with Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay. Tune into Capital Breakfast, weekdays from 6am-10am and Saturdays from 6am-9am.
