Vernon Kay to host heart-racing quiz show

Vernon Kay is set to host a brand new daytime quiz show.

The presenter will front ITV’s new programme ‘1,000 Heartbeats’, an intense competition which sees contestants battling their own heartbeat to win a money prize.

According to Broadcast, each competitor will be trying to keep it cool as their heart rate gets measured throughout the show – and the faster it beats, the less time they have to answer questions in the quiz.

They will begin the game with 1,000 heartbeats, with each one reducing their time allowance, and Vernon is excited to take on such a "brilliant concept".

He added: "The contestants are going to have to stay calm under real pressure to win big. I can’t wait to start recording the shows."

While an air date for the new show hasn’t been set yet, it will be produced by Dan Baldwin – Holly Willoughby’s husband – who claimed the quiz master "fell in love" with it immediately.

He said: "Vernon is a hugely successful primetime star and capturing him was a real coup. He fell in love with ‘1,000 Heartbeats’ as soon as we pitched it to him."
