Tyrese Gibson insists a restraining order filed against him by his ex-wife should be dismissed immediately.
The ‘Fast and the Furious’ star’s lawyer has filed documents hitting back at Norma Gibson – who he was wed to between 2007 and 2009 – and stating there are no grounds for her to file a domestic violence restraining order because any of the allegations of abuse against his ex-wife are in the past.
In paperwork obtained by The Blast, Tyrese insists the claims are all connected to their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla, and says the order is only valid if the allegations are made by the person seeking protection.
The 38-year-old actor claims Norma has tried to use alleged evidence of past abusive behaviour to justify why she needs custody of the youngster and a permanent restraining order.
And the paperwork also suggests Norma has only claimed he abused their daughter because she’s looking for sole custody of her.
Tyrese and Norma have been in court all week but on Thursday (26.10.17) he checked himself to hospital after suffering chest pains, though it is currently unclear what specifically led to him feeling unwell.
But earlier in the day, Norma accused the Hollywood actor of harassing her since 2014, following a custody evaluation, by having her and her friends followed by someone.
Norma also alleged that he punched her while she was pregnant back in 2007.
But London-born Norma claimed to have signed an agreement following the alleged incident that stopped her from discussing it, adding that she was happy to agree because she did not wish to harm his career at the time.
However, during the cross examination, the ‘Transformers’ actor’s lawyer suggested Norma was dating a drug addict, and hinted that was the reason he’d hired a private investigator.
Tyrese believes Norma is acting out of spite, following his marriage to social worker Samantha Lee Gibson earlier this year.
He also claims not to have seen his daughter in over 60 days and that his priority is to resolve the dispute as quickly as possible.
