Tyga has been slammed for not paying towards the upkeep of his former pet tiger.
The ‘Rack City’ hitmaker faced criminal charges last year for illegally owning the exotic pet, so eventually surrendered it to animal control, which transferred the animal to Lions, Tigers & Bears non-profit rescue centre in Southern California.
While it costs around $10,000 a year to feed the tiger, whose name is Maverick, and he also racks up vet bills, flea control and other costs, the facility’s founder and director Bobbi Brink told TMZ that Tyga hasn’t made any effort to help out financially with the creature’s care, or even thanked them for taking him in.
The facility relies on public donations to cover costs.
According to law enforcement sources, Tyga – who has a three-year-old son, King Cairo, with ex-girlfriend Blac Chyna – effectively dodged the illegal ownership charges because they were unable to track him down when he moved house.
He could have faced up to six months jail on the misdemeanour charge of possession of a prohibited species.
It was previously revealed the 26-year-old rapper – who has recently rekindled his romance with Kylie Jenner – had taken good care of the tiger and didn’t realise it was illegal to own one of the big cats.
As soon as he found out, he got rid of the animal.
These days, it seems Tyga is more interested in virtual creatures as he was recently caught ignoring Kylie at Budapest airport in favour of playing Pokémon Go.
The rapper was seen trying to snatch the virtual creatures on the mobile game while his girlfriend stood beside him in a queue.
