Matt Le Blanc ‘cool’ with Episodes ridicule

Matt Le Blanc is "cool" with being ridiculed on 'Episodes'.
The 'Former' friends star has been praised for being good-humoured about jibes about his weight and age on the comedy show, in which he plays an exaggerated version of himself.
Co-star Stephen Mangan exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "He is really cool. He's more cool in a way, [because] you think, how cool you have to be to deal with a show which holds you up to that much ridicule.
"Everyone knows it's not really him but at the same time, especially in this [new] series, [there's] a lot of jokes about him being too old, too fat and past it, and you've got to have a pretty good sense of humour about yourself. I can't think that there are many actors that would do that, so it really shows the good guy he is."
The first series of 'Episodes' centres on a hit British comedy being remade in the US, and Stephen, 41, feels the abundance of home-grown shows being remade around the world is a testament to the talent to come out of the UK.
He explained: "It just shows what talent we have in this country, generating ideas."
Meanwhile, the actor has dismissed the idea of a movie follow-up to 'Episodes', which also stars Tamsin Greig.
He added: "I don't think so. It is very hard, because spin-off movies with comedy shows very rarely work. I think it suits that half-hour format, but I don't mind an hour version of it."
'Episodes' airs Wednesdays at 10pm on BBC Two.
Stephen's new film 'Postman Pat' is out on May 23.

Louis Spence praises Conchita Wurst

Louie Spence says Conchita Wurst won Eurovision for her vocals, not her appearance.
While the drag queen won over the masses with her beard and ball gown when she represented Austria in the song contest earlier this month, the former 'Pineapple Dance Studios' star believes Conchita deserved to win because of her "great" singing voice and not just because of her daring look.
He said: "In fairness to Conchita, the song was good. It was uplifting and she had a good voice. It wasn't like she was just some drag queen who went out there and sung some kind of crap.
"She had great vocals, it was a good song and she lived every moment of it. She was full of drama."
Flamboyant Louie - who appears on Channel 4 game show 'Draw It!' this week - is open about his own sexuality and admits that although he isn't interested in campaigning for equal rights for the gay community himself, he is happy to see Conchita - whose real name is Thomas Neuwirth - strive for equality and represent a "minority".
He said: "People have different cultures. I'm not an activist in that way. I live my life how I live my life, I'm very open about who I am, and if people don't accept me then they're not a part of my life.
"I do think it's a good thing for any kind of minority, whether it be gay, lesbian, transgender etc., though."
'Draw It!' airs weekdays at 4.30pm on Channel 4.

TNA Wrestling launching family Xplosion

TNA Wrestling is launching a new family orientated show on Challenge.
The grappling company will air 'TNA Xplosion' on Saturday mornings and the revamped programme will have in-ring action with all the top Superstars and will be suitable for fans of all ages.
TNA President Dixie Carter and the roster of wrestlers are thrilled to be part of the new programme because "there is no greater feeling than seeing the eyes of a child light up" when watching their favourite grapplers in action.
Dixie said: "'Xplosion' moving to Saturday morning on Challenge is a strategic and natural evolution of TNA programming, as our product resonates with fans of all ages.
"Families with young children are always strongly represented during TNA's annual 'MAXIMUM IMPACT Tour'. I am confident with the new format and time slot of 'Xplosion' we will continue to attract new fans, particularly kids.
"Ask any TNA Superstar and they will tell you, there is no greater feeling than seeing the eyes of a child light up when he sees his favourite wrestler in action."
'Xplosion' will be hosted by Jeremy Borash and features a mix of new matches, classic bouts and Spin Cycle panel debates.
The programme will air at 9am every week on Challenge - available in the UK and Ireland on Sky, Freeview, Virgin Media and Freesat - from Saturday May 31 at 9am.
The roster of TNA Superstars, which includes Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, 'The A-Team' actor Rampage Jackson and Bully Ray, can also be seen every Sunday night on 'TNA IMPACT'.

Glee’s Kevin McHale to host panel show

Glee's Kevin McHale will host a new E4 panel show.
The actor, who is best known for playing Artie Abrams on the hit musical comedy show, will host 'Virtually Famous', which will look at the biggest viral moments on social media networks such as Twitter, YouTube and Vine.
Each week, Kevin will oversee two teams - led by comedian Sean Walsh and Radio 1's Chris Stark - as they battle it out for points by answering questions about viral memes, popular Twitter posts, infamous clips on YouTube and more.
The people behind the viral sensations will also be invited on to the show for special guest appearances.
Kevin's new role comes as 'Glee' enters its final season.
The award-winning show - which also stars Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Naya Rivera and Darren Criss - will end in 2015 after six years.
'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy announced the show's end last year, revealing that he originally intended the final moments to feature Lea's character, Rachel Berry, and Finn Hudson - played by the late Cory Monteith, who tragically died in July 2013.
However, Ryan says the reworked series finale will be "satisfactory" and will honour Cory.

Vanessa Redgrave to appear in Call the Midwife

Vanessa Redgrave will appear on-screen in 'Call the Midwife'.
The 77-year-old actress, who narrates the series as a mature Jennifer Worth, will make her first appearance on the show in this year's Christmas special.
Filming on the fourth series has just begun and will see the introduction of two new characters, Nurse Phyllis Crane, played by 'Lark Rise to Candleford' star Linda Bassett and Nurse Barbara Gilbert, played by 'Fresh Meat' actress Charlotte Ritchie.
Producer Pippa Harris said: "We're all delighted to be welcoming Vanessa Redgrave on screen, having hugely enjoyed her narration of the series to date.
"It's also terrific that [show creator and executive producer] Heidi Thomas has created two wonderful new characters for the series, and that we're fortunate enough to have Linda Bassett and Charlotte Ritchie joining our regular and much-loved team at Nonnatus House."
Heidi added: "The medical, social and emotional stories at the heart of 'Call the Midwife' continue to inspire and compel me. The Nonnatus House nurses and midwives feel like my best-loved friends."
Vanessa has voiced an older Jennifer Worth on the show since its inception, while Jessica Raine played a younger version of the character before quitting at the end of the third series earlier this year.
The new series will take place in 1960 and depict big changes to London's East End, where the show is set.

Catfish’s Nev Schulman feels ‘vulnerable’ online

Catfish's Nev Schulman is scared of people impersonating him online.
The 29-year-old presenter of the MTV reality show - in which he and co-star Max Joseph unmask people using fake social media profiles to build relationships - admitted he feels "vulnerable" and "scared" when he thinks about people stealing his identity on the internet.
Nev exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I know for example there was one Facebook page - because I don't have a personal Facebook page - there was one pretending to me that had a lot of fans or followers or friends, I should say, on the page and was doing a really good job of convincing people that it was in fact me.
"It's scary because I can't control that and I can't know what someone's going to say and pretend. If they are pretending to be me how seriously will people take it? It really does put me in a vulnerable position that there is very little I can do about."
Nev even believes - in an echo of the reality show - that people believe they are building a personal relationship with him and are unaware that the profile is a fake.
He said: "It's very possible that someone may have been out having a more direct personal correspondence with one of those friends. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case."
Nev insists that 'Catfish' - now in its third series - is doing even more to bring justice to those who have been tricked by such profiles on the internet.
He said: "The internet is still sort of lawless and part of what Max and I are doing, especially in Season 3, is holding people accountable and going after these catfish - or in some cases criminals - that think because it's the internet that they can get away with it and do whatever they want. [We're] picking up, in many cases, where the police have left off or simply cannot go any further, really bringing some justice."
'Catfish: The TV Show' airs on MTV tonight at 9pm.

Broadchurch creator: US remake is an experiment

'Broadchurch' creator Chris Chibnall has described the US remake of the hit series as an "experiment."
The writer, who is also working on 'Gracepoint' in America, thinks the producers have done an "incredible job" and he doesn't find it unusual they are remaking the ITV murder mystery drama with original star David Tennant.
Speaking at the British Academy Television Awards at London's Theatre Royal last night (18.05.14), he said: "The original show didn't air to a large number of people at all in America. And the offer was there so ['Gracepoint'] seemed like an interesting thing to be a part of. It's an experiment and I think they've done a really incredible job.
"I've come from theatre and you have different productions of a text in theatre. It's not unusual. I find it surprising that people find it surprising, actually."
But Chris did admit he is more focused on the eagerly-awaited second season of 'Broadchurch', rather than 'Gracepoint' in America, saying: "My main focus is on 'Broadchurch' [series] two, really, to be honest."
Chris picked up the award for Best Drama Series, as well as supporting the show's stars Olivia Colman and David Bradley who were awarded gongs for Leading Actress and Supporting Actor on the night.
Speaking about the show's BAFTA success, he said: "I'm in shock. I didn't expect that at all. I came here very pessimistic tonight and I'm completely blown away."

Joey Essex deeply affected by mother’s suicide

Joey Essex says his mother's suicide affected his learning.
The former 'The Only Way Is Essex' favourite believes the trauma of his mother Tina hanging herself when he was just 10 years old could be responsible for his lack of general knowledge.
He explains in his new book, 'Being Reem': "Some people reckoned I stopped learning because of what happened to my mum. Almost like I froze in time. I don't know about that but I remember it hitting me really hard."
Joey - who can't tell the time, despite owning a £70,000 Rolex watch - and his older sister Frankie Essex didn't know their mother had taken her own life until a schoolchild blurted it out in the playground two years after the event.
In an extract published in The Sun newspaper, he said: "We didn't know mum had committed suicide for about two years. Dad didn't tell us how it happened to start with, he just said she fell over in an accident.
"I guess he was trying to protect us and I don't think he wanted to deal with it himself. I was convinced she was staying in a hotel and was coming back. As I started getting older I began to get p***ed off.
"I'd constantly say to Dad, 'Can you please find out where mum's gone or how she's died?' "
Despite growing up without a mum, Joey resents people describing suicide as the coward's way out and understands why she did it.
He said: "Deep down, she was ill and unhappy. I was always confused about what was wrong with my mum. She was often in hospital; and I never understood why.
"Someone told me committing suicide is a selfish thing to do because you're hurting other people. But how can you say that? You don't know what the person is going through. To commit suicide you've got to be in another level of pain."

Michael French to leave EastEnders

Michael French is to leave 'EastEnders'.
The actor, who plays David Wicks, will bow out of the BBC One soap later this year but bosses are keeping the star's exit storyline tightly under wraps.
According to Digital Spy, Michael only signed a short contract to reprise his famous role last year, but agreed to extend his deal when new executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins took over the show earlier this year.
Viewers have seen David planning his wedding to long-term love interest Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) in recent months and the couple are expected to tie the knot later this month.
However, David's recent kiss with Nikki Spraggan (Rachel Wilde) has come back to haunt him as the vivacious blonde has been trying to lure him away from Carol.
Michael originally starred on 'EastEnders' from 1993 to 1996. He later returned in 2012 for on-screen mum Pat Evans' final episodes, and rejoined the soap full-time in September 2013.
While the 51-year-old actor is set to exit Walford, fan favourite Jean Slater, played by Gillian Wright, is coming back for a short stint to support her daughter Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner), who awaits trial for the murder of Archie Mitchell.
Gillian said: "I feel very honoured to be asked to reprise my role as Jean Slater, for a short while. The storyline promises to be challenging and exciting! I look forward to playing again with old friends and new and to pick up the special relationship between Stacey and Jean."
