Anthony Hopkins takes lead in HBO show

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood are to star in new HBO sci-fi drama 'Westworld'.
The Hollywood legend and 'True Blood' actress have been cast in the ambitious TV show which is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 movie of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The TV adaptation also has top pedigree behind the scenes as it will be produced by J.J. Abrams through his Bad Robot production company and 'The Dark Knight' co-writer Jonathan Nolan.
'Westworld', like its film inspiration, will centre on a futuristic amusement park filled with androids and is billed as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin".
Anthony - who won an Oscar for his role as Hannibal Lecter in 'The Silence of the Lambs' - will play Dr. Robert Ford, the visionary scientist behind Westworld who harbours a dark, unorthodox vision for the park.
Evan, meanwhile, will play Dolores Abernathy, a quintessential American farm girl who discovers her life has been a lie.
The show marks Anthony's first major TV role after building a lauded career in films such as 'Amistad', 'Nixon' and most recently, 'Noah'.
The original 'Westworld' movie starred Yul Brynner, James Brolin and Richard Benjamin.

Nicole Scherzinger urged to snub X Factor

Nicole Scherzinger is being lured to perform on both 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'The X Factor'.
The 'Your Love' singer, 36, is at the centre of a tug of war between the BBC and ITV, with the former keen to see Nicole snub the chance to appear on her old show when she promotes her new album later this year.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Nicole is one of the sexiest pop babes around.
"When she releases her album everyone will want her on their show. 'Strictly' want to get the upper hand and feel having a former 'X Factor' judge on their show will do just that.
"If Nicole goes on 'The X Factor' then she will have to perform in front of Cheryl. The media furore it will create will be intense, everyone will be looking for some sort of clash between them."
The former Pussycat Dolls singer is due to release her new solo album at the same time 'Strictly' and 'The X Factor' return to screens, leaving Nicole with a big decision to make in terms of which show she appears on.
BBC bosses are keen for Nicole to perform one of her new tracks on their results shows, knowing it is likely to boost audience figures.
The American star quit the 'X Factor' judging panel earlier this year after two series on the ITV singing competition.

Tom Daley: TV hasn’t distracted diving

Tom Daley insists his TV career hasn't distracted him from diving.
The 20-year-old diver, who starred on ITV reality show 'Splash!' for two series, says winning a gold medal at the Olympics is still his top goal in life and doesn't feel his newfound fame as a TV star has harmed his training in any way.
He said: "The TV shows I've done have always fitted around my training and I learned to compartmentalise different aspects of my life from a very young age. I think it's good to have other interests and I actually think they benefit my diving as I go into each training session feeling fresh and motivated.
"My goal has always been winning an Olympic gold [medal], it's the only diving accolade I'm missing. I wouldn't train 30 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, if I didn't love what I do."
Tom, who also travelled the world for an ITV2 reality show, says his TV work has been a welcome addition to his life since leaving school.
He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "In terms of the TV shows, they've given me something else to focus on away from the pool.
"I'm not at school anymore, so if I didn't do anything else outside of diving I'd probably go mad!"

Jacqueline Jossa: Dan Osborne romance going ‘swimmingly’

Jacqueline Jossa says her relationship with Dan Osborne is going "swimmingly".
The pair - who first sparked rumours they were dating when they exchanged a number of messages on Twitter last year - have now confirmed their relationship and the 'EastEnders' actress has revealed she and 'The Only Way Is Essex' star are getting on great.
Quizzed on whether things were going well, she told new! magazine: "Yes, it's all going swimmingly!"
The 21-year-old beauty - who stars as recovering alcoholic Lauren Branning in the BBC One soap - has also revealed she's getting to know her new love's 'TOWIE' co-stars, including his pal James "Lockie" Lock and Danielle Armstrong, with whom Lockie recently reunited.
Speaking at the Attitude magazine awards party in London, she said: "We see each other at more events now. And we're going for a Chinese after!"
When asked if she'd visited her boyfriend in his hometown of Essex yet, Jacqueline added: "I've never been. The first time is going to be Danielle's boutique opening."

Katherine Parkinson unsure about IT Crowd reunion

Katherine Parkinson doesn't want to ruin 'The IT Crowd's' legacy.
The 37-year-old actress - who played Jen Barber in the cult classic sitcom - admits she is reluctant to reprise her role in the comedy, which ended last year, as the show concluded on such a high note.
Quizzed if she'd do another series, Katherine said: "We've tried before but we've all been a bit unavailable - Richard Ayoade, me, Chris O'Dowd and also [writer] Graham Linehan.
"So, never say never, and we're all friends, but at the moment it's unlikely. It was a good run and we wouldn't want to ruin that."
Katherine has swapped her BAFTA Award-winning comedy role for more serious fare as she plays Maggie Gyllenhaal's cold sister-in-law in BBC Two drama 'The Honourable Woman' and she is enjoying the change of pace.
She told Radio Times magazine: "That's certainly a departure for me. On TV we either have sitcoms or dramas. But I think the best dramas do have an element of wit. 'Breaking Bad' is the perfect example. It's a drama and it's tragic but it's hilarious at times."

EastEnders’ Aunt Babe is ‘ruthless’

EastEnders' Aunt Babe is "ruthless".
The Carter family will discover their wayward aunt's illegal side job next week when some of her hash cakes end up in the hands of young Tiffany Butcher and with the police on her trail, actress Annette Badlands says her character will do anything to keep her business running.
Aunt Babe decides to hide her cannabis in Dean Wicks' salon but when his mum Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) finds out she becomes enraged with Babe. However, Babe retaliates by threatening to reveal Shirley's secret, that she's Mick Carter's mother, to the rest of the family.
Annette told Digital Spy: "[Babe] has the front of being jolly, as she does have a sense of humour and she's bouncy and bubbly, but here I tried to be very angry.
"Babe can't let that out, she has to rein that anger in and use it in some other way. She won't expose herself by being furious, so she suppresses it and torments Shirley with what she may do next."
Quizzed if Babe would go through with revealing Shirley's secret, the actress said: "Sadly yes, I think she is that ruthless. She loves Shirley, but she also needs to protect herself."
Annette also teased a major Carter storyline will take centre stage at Christmas.
She added of her character: "Everyone has a dark side somewhere and there are still things that you don't know about her."

Mel C, Peter Andre to join Ant and Dec on tour

Melanie C, Peter Andre and more will join Ant and Dec's Takeaway on Tour live shows.
The presenting duo are set to travel across the country with a live stage show based on their hit show 'Saturday Night Takeaway' and have enlisted numerous celebrity pals to join them on various nights of the 34-date jaunt.
Former Spice Girl Mel and Peter are among the stars who have signed up, along with 'This Morning' co-host Eamonn Holmes, boy band Blue and Paddy McGuinness.
Other celebrity guests include Chris Moyles, Joey Essex, Stephen Mulhern, Westlife stars Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne, Keith Lemon and Vernon Kay.
In addition to the guest stars, former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts will reprise her role as the host of the 'Ant versus Dec' segment on all of the tour dates. Irish dance group Riverdance will also thrill crowds on each night of the tour.
Just like the TV show, all of the audience members will have an opportunity to win a series of top prizes including a brand new car and an all-inclusive holiday.
Dec said: "'Takeaway' is the one show that people always tell us they'd love to be in the audience for, so we've decided to take the show to them! Just like the TV show the audience will have a chance of winning some fantastic prizes as well as being an essential part of the show. It's been an ambition of ours for a long time to go on tour and we can't wait to hit the road!"
Takeaway on Tour begins in Cardiff, Wales, on August 6 and ends in Dublin, Ireland, on September 13.

The Simpsons to kill off Krusty the Clown?

'The Simpsons' could kill off beloved character Krusty the Clown.
Showrunner Al Jean has dropped some strong hints that Springfield's resident comic will be the unlucky character to meet their maker in the new series of the animated sitcom.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes Jean as saying: "[The episode] is called 'A Clown in the Dumps'." The news apparently prompted gasps from those in attendance at a Television Critics Association event on Sunday (20.07.14).
Al also reasserted his previous claims that the character is played by an actor who's received an Emmy Award for their work on the show.
He added that the identity of the character is "obvious".
Al said: "It turned out bigger than we thought it was going to be. It's not going to be this blood bath where they all get murdered."
Krusty is voiced by Dan Castellaneta, who also voices Homer Simpson, and has earned numerous accolades - including four Emmy Awards - for his voice work on the show.
The actor also voices Grampa Simpson, Barney Gumble, Groundskeeper Willie and Mayor Quimby.

Michael Le Vell signs up for Celebrity Big Brother

Michael Le Vell has signed up for 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The troubled 'Coronation Street' actor - who plays mechanic Kevin Webster - is reportedly in "advanced talks" to appear on the next series of the Channel 5 reality show in August.
Michael, 49, was cleared of sex offences in court last year after a long, emotional trial which took a toll on him. Earlier this year, the soap star admitted to abusing cocaine and alcohol during the court case and entered rehab in March.
'CBB' bosses were hoping to land both Michael and his 82-year-old co-star William Roache, who was cleared of historic sex offences last year, but the 'Corrie' legend declined the offer.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "They wanted a double-whammy of Le Vell and Roach. Bill was their main target but Le Vell is now a man transformed."
Michael recently said he looked forward to returning to 'Corrie' after taking a break to seek treatment in the aftermath of his cocaine admission.
He wrote on Facebook: "I'm so looking forward to getting back to the job I love and all the people there who are like my second family, I love them all."
