Craig Charles picked up from Coronation Street set in helicopter

Craig Charles was once picked up from the set of 'Coronation Street' in a helicopter.
The 50-year-old actor - who plays the role of Lloyd Mullaney in the ITV soap - has revealed how a fan once picked him up from the Manchester set in a helicopter as he was running late for a DJ set at music festival in the Lake District.
Speaking on 'This Morning', he told Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "I was working late and I was going to have to cancel the gig at the Kendal Calling Festival because I wasn't going to make it.
"So I tweeted asking if anyone had a helicopter - a guy replied saying, 'Yeah I have one', and he came to pick me up!"
Despite being best known for his acting roles in Corrie and 'Red Dwarf', Craig is also a keen DJ and claims he developed his love of music during his childhood, when he'd listen to his dad's records.
He explained: "My dad got me into music. He arrived in England in the 50s/60s with a pocket full of change and a bag full of records.
"He'd listen to Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Harry Belafonte and all sorts of people."
And he admits he's even incorporated his taste in music into his soap character, who also "loves soul", saying, "It all weaves in".
Craig performed at a number of festivals this summer including Glastonbury and Lovebox.

Jack Whitehall: Judy Murray has an ‘ageless beauty’

Jack Whitehall says Judy Murray has an "ageless beauty".
The 'A League of Their Own' star has revealed he has a bit of a crush on tennis ace Andy Murray's mother, who is competing on the current series of BBC One celebrity dance contest 'Strictly Come Dancing', despite the 29-year age gap between them.
Speaking about his meeting with the 55-year-old tennis coach, he admitted: "Me and Judy have some history. When I see her it feels like we're dating, although maybe she doesn't feel the same.
"She is just a wonderful woman. I met her first when I was playing tennis for 'A League of Their Own' and she watched me and was impressed by my lob.
"I was very excited to see she was doing Strictly."
However, the 'Fresh Meat' actor, 26, confessed he felt a bit jealous when he saw pictures of her with all of the hunky male dancers.
Jack added to The Sun newspaper: "But when I looked at the publicity shots she posted with Brendan Cole with his hands all over her, I did feel a nasty pang cutting straight to the very core of me. I was very jealous of Judy in the arms of another man.
"She has an ageless beauty. She is what I'd describe as a cougar.
"She is single but watch this space. The thing about her is that when you meet her she is so not what you'd expect, she is so friendly and warm and lovely."

John Bardon has died aged 75

'EastEnders' actor John Bardon has died aged 75.
John - who has starred as Jim Branning in the BBC One soap since the 90s - has passed away at the age of 75 after suffering from a stroke in 2007.
Having played Jim - who married Dot Cotton (June Brown) in the drama in 2002 - from 1996 to 2011, he was written out following his stroke as he required full-time care from his wife Enda.
However, he has returned to Albert Square on a number of occasions since as it was written into the storylines that Jim himself had had a bad turn and needed to be cared for in a nursing home.
June has led the tributes to her on-screen husband, saying: "I am so sorry that John has passed away but hope that he is now at peace after seven difficult years.
"I shall miss him very much as I loved him dearly. My thoughts are with his devoted wife, Enda."
A spokesperson for 'EastEnders' added: "Everyone at 'EastEnders' is absolutely heartbroken to hear that John has sadly passed away. His bravery, dignity and courage in battling against the devastating effects of his stroke were admired by all who had the privilege of working with him.
"Loved by all of us, John was an exceptionally talented writer whose humour, mischievousness and brilliant performances made Jim Branning one Walford's most loveable characters and we will miss John forever.
"Our love and deepest sympathies are extended to Enda, his truly wonderful life, at this very sad time. May he now rest in peace. Tonight's episode of 'EastEnders' is dedicated to John, who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and worked with him."

Harry Derbidge axed from The Only Way Is Essex

Harry Derbidge has reportedly been axed from 'The Only Way Is Essex'.
The 20-year-old star returned to the ITV2 reality series earlier this year after being axed in 2012, but with the cast set to travel Ibiza to shoot a one off special on the party island in the coming weeks, he's said to have been left off of the list of invites.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "It doesn't look like Harry will be joining us in Ibiza because we're unable to take all the cast along. And at the moment he doesn't have a key storyline or friendship group."
Harry - who is former co-star Amy Childs' cousin - split from boyfriend Bobby Norris in the last series of the show and was seen falling out with pal Gemma Collins
And now it appears a reunion on the White Isle is out of the question as Harry will be back at home in Essex while the rest of the cast celebrate the end of the summer in style.
However, as he is still under contract he could be set to return when the cast begin filming the upcoming series back in the UK but, as he's no longer dating Bobby, producers may decide they no longer have a place for him.

Sunetra Sarker has split from husband

Sunetra Sarker has split from her husband.
The 'Casualty' actress - who is competing on the current series of BBC One celebrity dance contest 'Strictly Come Dancing' - is now dating business partner Scott Carey, 42, after leaving her husband of ten years Nick Corfield, 44, last year.
Sunetra, who stars as Dr. Zoe Hanna in the BBC medical drama, and Scott became partners in Keep Me Fresh - a £45 device that kills bacteria - in February.
A friend of the star told The Sun newspaper: "Nick was the love of Sunetra's life and she thought she would be with him forever but they drifted apart.
"She met Scott and he swept her off her feet.
"They started Keep Me Fresh together, which is a play on the way they feel about each other.
"They are besotted and Scott will be coming down to support her on 'Strictly'."
The 41-year-old star first met Nick while on holiday in Jersey in 1989 and after rekindling their love during a chance meeting on the island ten years later they got married in 2003 and a year later had son Noah.
Speaking previously about their relationship, Sunetra said: "You don't realise when you meet someone at 16 that it isn't always going to be as perfect as that.
"Going back and meeting him again made me realise how special he was."
However, she's now loved up with Scott and, after the Strictly launch show last weekend - which saw her paired with show veteran Brendan Cole - she took to Twitter to thank her new beau for his support.
She wrote: "After the madness of last night - a calm sunny day in London with Scott #happybirthdayboyfriend xxx (sic)."

James Corden won’t leave A League of Their Own

James Corden will continue to host 'A League of Their Own'.
The 36-year-old comedian - who was recently announced as the replacement for Craig Ferguson on 'The Late Late Show' in the United States - won't be leaving the popular Sky 1 sports quiz any time soon as he has already signed up for three more series.
A spokesman for the channel said: "James is already committed to the next three series of 'A League Of Their Own' and he's looking forward to his ongoing participation in the programme."
The 'Gavin and Stacey' star is believed to have signed a $5 million-a-year contract to replace the 52-year-old Scot on the late night talk show at the beginning of 2015 .
James - who has already started viewing properties across the pond with his wife Julia and their three-year-old son Max ahead of the move next year - said he was "honoured" to have been offered the role and can't wait to start filming.
He said: "I can't describe how thrilled and honoured I am to be taking over from the brilliant Craig Ferguson.
"To be asked to host such a prestigious show on America's number one network is hugely exciting.
"I can't wait to get started, and will do my very best to make a show America will enjoy."

Michelle Dockery wants Gyllenhaal in Downton

Michelle Dockery wants Maggie Gyllenhaal to star in 'Downton Abbey'.
The 32-year-old actress, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the ITV period drama, admits she is a huge fan of the 'Honourable Woman' star so would love it if she made a cameo appearance in the popular programme.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I read somewhere that Maggie Gyllenhaal loves the show so I think that would be great if she fancied popping in and doing a cameo."
Michelle admits she loves it when huge stars such as Paul Giamatti and Shirley MacLaine appear in the show but insists it is important for there to be a good balance of acting talent.
Speaking at the launch of the upcoming fifth series, she added: "Our casting director is actually really amazing at getting people in who are not really well known. It's a sort of a balance really.
"We've had Paul Giamatti and we've had Shirley MacLaine but it's finding the right people.
"There are lots of people who have said they'd love to do it so it's really flattering to hear that."
Michelle's wish could come true if Maggie has anything to do with it as the 36-year-old star recently admitted she would love to appear in the show.
She said: "I've seen every episode of 'Downton Abbey'. It's like crack. We love English people doing old-fashioned things.
"I would be the American sister who is pregnant by - ooh, I don't know - the sexy guy who had a fling with Lady Rose."

Jack P. Shepherd sets up casting agency

Jack P. Shepherd has set up a casting agency.
The 'Coronation Street' actor - who plays bad boy David Platt - already owns a performing arts school and has now launched a career as a talent agent.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It's a win-win situation for Jack because he's already a big name in telly, so theatre and TV producers will be very keen to deal with him.
"Owning the theatre school is clever. Parents pay him to teach their kids to act and, if they're any good, he can get them a shot at the big time and receive a fee."
The 26-year-old hunk has starred in the ITV soap since April 2000 and he's now keen to explore other career avenues in case his time on the popular show was to come to an end in the near future.
The source added: "He has been in 'Corrie' since he was a kid but he's wise enough to know nothing lasts for ever in showbiz.
"The theatre school and casting agency are designed with an eye on the future in case he ever gets the boot from 'Coronation Street.' "
Jack will launch the casting agency next month.
Meanwhile, his 13 Performing Arts School in Manchester, which takes on children aged from three to 17, puts on two shows a year and gives students the opportunity to take exams in drama as well.

Gemma Merna: Hollyoaks Carmel to go down in history

Gemma Merna thinks her 'Hollyoaks' character will "go down in soap history".
The 29-year-old actress joined the cast of the Channel 4 soap in 2006--playing the role of ditsy beautician Carmel McQueen - and having recently announced she was leaving the show after eight years, she's confessed she's proud of the work she's done.
Looking back at her time on the show, Gemma said: "It's more pride. Obviously I've done a good job. That's all you set off to do. You join such an established cast, and you try and create a character that has longevity.
"And I feel I've done that. Carmel is well known, she's part of the main cast. She will go down in soap history."
Gemma - who earned herself a Best Comedy Performance prize at The British Soap Awards in 2007, as well as a nomination for Best Female Soap Actress at the National Television Award - also admitted she's going to miss transforming into the much loved character.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'll miss Carmel - I'll miss getting into the character every single day. But, you know, I'm ready for some new challenges. So I'm very excited about that."
She is, however, keeping tight-lipped on her future ventures.
The blonde beauty added: "I'm allowed to say that it's very different from what any soap stars have done before. And I think a lot of people will be shocked by what I'm doing."
Gemma is supporting Jeans for Genes Day 2014 which will be held on Friday 19 September. Please sign-up and order a free fundraising kit at www.jeansforgenes.org or call 0800 980 4800.
