Phillip Schofield was smothered in mustard and squirted with ketchup after filming for his show 'You're Back in the Room' descended into "chaos" and was forced to be halted.
The 53-year-old presenter reportedly stormed off set after hypnotised guests ran riot in the studio and destroyed his £2,000 suit with the highly-pigmented condiments.
A source explained: "When they all rushed over and covered him in sauce he didn't look happy. He told the audience that his suit cost £2,000 and that it was ruined. He said that the ketchup had turned his grey hair pink and he had to give it several washes. He came back wearing a different suit and had to retake several of the links for continuity."
Contestants were sent into a trance-state by hypnotist Keith Barry and made to believe they were in an American diner and that the mustard and ketchup bottles were shampoo.
The guests obediently rubbed the sticky condiments into their hair before launching an attack on Phillip after they were told by Keith that he was responsible for their messy state.
Taking to his Instagram account to show off the state of his luxury suit, Phillip wrote: "I knew a fast food round was a bad idea! This suit will never see a studio again."
Meanwhile, the ITV series, which is in its second series, is set to hit screens in the spring but it's not known if the latest sauce challenge will cause issues for the planned scheduling.

Louisa Lytton has cried "every day" since she's been training for 'The Jump'.
The former 'EastEnders' actress is struggling to master the art of skiing for the winter sports show and has been reduced to tears every time she's had to slip into her thermals.
She explained: "I've cried every day. Every day for a week I've cried. I'm not used to that kind of adrenaline. So after I did the skeleton I was in floods of tears.
"I was fine and I got down to it and I did quite well but then the moment it was over it was so overwhelming. And I'm a female and I'm an actress - I've got to be dramatic, haven't I?"
But Louisa, 26, is adamant she isn't the only female star suffering a "meltdown" every time she hits the slopes.
She said with a giggle: "I think a lot of the girls have had a little meltdown. I think that's to be expected though."
However, despite struggling to master the slippery skill, the brunette beauty is enjoying herself and can't believed how quickly she's "gelled" with her fellow competitors.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, she added: "I've fractured my thumb and I've got a bruised bum but I'm having the best time!"
'The Jump', which will be hosted again by Davina McCall, will hit screens on January 31 at 7.30pm on Channel 4.

Doctor Who's new companion will be "different".
Fans of the BBC One show were rocked by the departure of the Doctor's companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) in the last series but Peter Capaldi - who plays the titular character - has teased they are putting a lot of thought into securing just the right person as her replacement.
He said: "We've just had some brief talks about it, we haven't actually chosen someone yet - that I know of.
"Perhaps someone has been chosen but I would expect that I would meet them before we finalised all that. So we're looking for someone different..."
The 57-year-old actor also admitted it was "quite challenging" to film an episode on his own following Jenna's departure.
He added to RadioTimes.com: "The [episode] where I was on my own was quite challenging because I thought people would get tired of my face and all my tricks.
"But in a way it was great to do an episode - I mean this in the nicest possible way - with no other actors because it meant I became very much closer with the crew. The crew are fantastic and I have a great relationship with them anyway, but to be with them all the time was lovely."

Alexandra Buggs and Courtney Rumbold - felt a little flushed when they locked eyes on the hunky star for the first time earlier this week and were even more embarrassed when they were pushed into having a photo with him.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Karis said: "The other day we were all starstruck by Jake Hall from 'TOWIE', we love his clothes and we were like, 'Oh my God, it's Jake we should ask him about his clothes.' Then we got forced to take a picture with him, which was embarrassing."
And, although they feel intimated by the handsome reality TV star, Alexandra wouldn't mind getting up close and personal with some more celebrities by signing up to 'Strictly Come Dancing' when it returns later this year.
Asked which reality TV show they'd be up for, Alexandra said: "I think we'd say 'Strictly'.
However, Courtney doesn't think she could hack being pulled across a ballroom in heavy costumes.
She added: "I am not going to lie, I don't think I could stand in one of those dresses and get thrown around."
And their talents don't just stop at singing and dancing as the three-piece also fancy trying their hand at acting and are keen to get their first gig on 'Orange is The New Black'.
Alexandra said: "We were saying the other day they need a UK girl band on there. We'd end up in prison and then all get together and be Stooshe. They need to pick up on it it's such a good idea. We'd make good characters in there."

The 'Geordie Shore' star, who has had her lips done four times, undergone cheek fillers, had an eyebrow lift and is a regular user of Botox, has made no secret of the fact she's gone under the knife on numerous occasions but still has a long list of things she wants to change about her appearance.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I've had quite a lot of work done and I'm never going to stop. I don't think I'll ever regret getting work done. I want to get the muscles taken out of my cheek so I've got a permanent contour line. I'd probably get filler in my chin as well."
And it's not just cosmetic surgery the the 20-year-old beauty - who has been compared to Kylie Jenner in the past - is obsessed with as she also likes to change up her hair.
Chloe - who has just been unveiled as the face of Lauren Pope's Hair Rehab London spring/simmer Synthetic Range - said: "I've been wearing fake hair in my hair since I was about 10. I love anything like that. I'm a proper girly girl."

Mark Wright is determined to fly out to South Africa "as much as" he can when his wife Michelle Keegan films 'Our Girl'.
The 'Take Me Out: The Gossip' presenter is not looking forward to spending six months away from his spouse when she jets off in a few weeks to shoot her lead role in the army drama, but he's keen to visit her as often as possible.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he explained: "She's going away to South Africa. I'm going to miss her but I'm going to go out there as much as I can. I'm going to miss her, I really am but I'm excited for her."
And, when he's not hopping on a plane to see his wife, whom he married last year following three years of dating, Mark will be busy shooting the 'Take Me Out' spin-off with Laura Jackson.
He said: "We've got four more episodes coming up on 'Take Me Out: The Gossip', which are explosive. I don't think I'd ever go back to 'The Only Way is Essex' [the show that made him famous] - I just want to stick to presenting now."
Meanwhile, although Mark is devastated to part with Michelle for almost half a year for her new acting gig, the brunette beauty can't wait to get stuck into her role of Georgia Lane.
She said: "I'm so excited about it; I can't wait to get over there and start filming. I've known about it for so long."

Zayn Malik has cancelled his first TV appearance since he quit One Direction last year.
The 23-year-old singer was set to appear on 'The Graham Norton Show' later this week, with the show being aired on Friday night (29.01.16), but he's been forced to pull out of the highly-awaited gig due to alleged "scheduling" issues.
His representative told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Unfortunately there was a scheduling conflict as Zayn is currently in the studio completing his album."
Zayn was lined up to appear on the show alongside the cast of the new film 'Dad's Army', as well as actors Will Smith and Ryan Reynolds to talk about his debut solo album.
It was also thought the heartthrob would discuss his decision to leave the popular boyband for the first time on television.
Zayn - who is currently dating model Gigi Hadid - broke hearts around the globe last March when he announced he was quitting the now-four piece in order to live a "normal life."
However, he later backtracked on his remark and decided he would remain in music and, instead, carve a solo career.
Meanwhile, it seems there is some bad blood between Zayn and his former bandmates - Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan - as he claimed he's reached out to them since his departure but they've chosen to snub him.

Kym Marsh will be dished out some of the "top storylines" on 'Coronation Street' over the next year.
The 39-year-old actress - who plays factory assistant Michelle Connor - has been promised she'll be entangled in some juicy plots on the soap following the departure of megabitch Carla Connor (Alison King) later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "She will take over from Alison as 'Corrie's best all round performer being involved in the top storylines all the time. Losing Alison has been a devastating body blow deep down to the inner sanctum because not only was she a tremendous actress but Carla was seen as having everything for a soap role, sexiness, funny, ruthless, a boozer and depressive at the same time but all the time must watch TV.
"There is no doubt Kym can step into her shoes no problem - and the bosses are chuffed to bits."
And Kym isn't the only member of the cast who can breathe a sigh of relief knowing her gig on the Cobbles is safe, as Tina O'Brien, Melanie Hill and Faye Brooks - who play Sarah-Louise Platt, Cathy Matthews and Kate Connor respectively - have also had their contracts renewed.
Meanwhile, Alison confirmed she was waving goodbye to Weatherfield following 10 years playing the factory owner earlier this month after weeks of whispers and rumours.
Although details surrounding her departure are yet to be confirmed, bosses have decided to leave the door open in case Alison decides she wants to return at a later date.

Christopher Maloney has revealed Gemma Collins broke out of the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house four times.
The 34-year-old reality TV star sparked outrage when she was seen booting down the emergency exit door and fleeing the infamous abode on two occasions following a series of blazing rows with her gobby housemate Stephanie Davis, 22.
But the former 'X Factor' singer, who was axed from the show last night (27.01.16) during the live eviction, has dished the dirt on what really goes on behind closed doors and has admitted the bubbly blonde actually escaped four times.
Speaking to Emma Willis after he left the house, he said: "Four times she's kicked that door in. Four times!"
And, although Christopher willingly helped Gemma with her fake tan and made her numerous cups of tea, the former call centre worker, 46, has admitted he found her "intimidating."
He explained: "I've got to say, I didn't really get her at the beginning and I'd rather please her than upset her. But since we had that conversation the other day, I got her. I got who she was and what kind of a person she is. I found her intimidating a little bit, I found her a bit overpowering. She's a great housemate and she's doing really well."
