Sanjeev Bhaskar has confirmed the second series of 'Unforgotten' will start shooting this summer.
The 52-year-old actor - who plays the lead role of Detective Inspector Sunil 'Sunny' Khan in the ITV drama - has revealed the next set of episodes is currently being penned by scriptwriter Chris Lang and is scheduled for air later this year.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "We are doing series two of 'Unforgotten'. The scripts are being written at the moment. We will shoot in the summer."
And the funnyman is counting down the days until he can reprise his role in the drama as he couldn't believe how much of a hit it was with viewers when it first hit screens last October.
He explained: "The one thing that was interesting about 'Unforgotten' was that I hadn't really done a prime-time drama series before, so that felt like new territory and it was well-received."
Meanwhile, although he currently has his hands tied up with preparing for the next series of the crime drama, Sanjeev is keen to return to his comedy show 'The Kumars at No. 42', which ended in 2006, in the near future but is yet to have discussions with potential producers.
Speaking of a reunion for the well-loved family, Sanjeev - who is married to his on-screen Grandmother Meera Syal - said: "I'd love to do more. Luckily I live with the grandmother so we'd be available. No plans at the moment, but we'd love to do more."
Meanwhile, the comedian has been personally chosen by Prince Charles to host the British Asian Trust, of which he's ambassador, to host the third annual Gala on February 2.

Eamonn Holmes hopes his double hip replacement will give him a "new lease of life."
The 'This Morning' presenter, 56, is set to go under the knife next month after battling with excruciating pain for many years and is confident he'll return to the well-loved breakfast show in around 10 weeks' time with an obvious spring in his step.
He explained: "I'm going to be rebuilt... they are taking out both of my hips and giving me new ones. I've put it off for too long ...and for me, I think it'll be a new lease of life."
However, not everybody is excited for the surgery as his wife Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010 following 13 years together, is petrified of the possible complications.
Speaking to her husband on the show, she added: "I had a cry the other night because I was so worried about you."
However, the blonde beauty has tried to make light of the situation and even bought her beau a bell for Christmas in preparation for when he is discharged from the hospital.
But, despite the clever idea, Ruth is no doubt regretting it now as Eamonn thought he'd try it out over the festive period.
He said with a giggle: "She didn't like it!"
Meanwhile, Ruth wasn't the only person to buy Eamonn a gift ahead of his surgery as his co-presenter Rylan Clark-Neal pulled on the host's heartstrings when he presented him with a Manchester United shirt, the football team he supports, signed by Wayne Rooney as well as a club mug.

Louisa Lytton has been rushed to hospital after she took a dramatic tumble while training for 'The Jump' in Austria.
The 26-year-old actress was taken to Innsbruck medical centre for tests after she suffered an accident "halfway down" the slope while practicing for the winter sports show.
A source explained: "She was in a bad way on the slopes and it didn't help that she was stuck halfway down.
"There was no easy way to get to her and Mountain Rescue were needed to take her off to the hospital.
"She was clearly in a lot of pain and it was all very scary as no-one knew how bad her condition really was."
Despite doctors initially fearing the worst, X-rays and a CT scan later revealed the brunette beauty hadn't broken any bones and was just experiencing extreme bruising.
The insider explained: "She was devastated by the fall and it has really knocked her confidence."
However, the former 'EastEnders' star, who has also fractured her thumb and bruised her backside, won't let her injuries stop her from hitting the slopes when she competes for the first time this Sunday (31.01.16).
The source told The Sun newspaper: "The whole process has been a struggle for her but after all of the suffering she isn't going to let anything get in the way of taking part.
"She wants to reinvigorate her career so crashing out before the show has even started just isn't an option."
Meanwhile, Louisa has made no secret of the fact she's struggling to master the art of skiing and has admitted she's cried "every day" since training kicked off last week.

Stephanie Davis, Jeremy McConnell and Tiffany Pollard will face eviction from the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house.
The threesome may have provided viewers with endless entertainment with their raunchy behaviour and aggressive outbursts over the last three weeks, but it seems their fellow housemates have had enough of their antics as they've put them up to face the boot in tonight's (29.01.16) live episode.
Danniella Westbrook, Gemma Collins, John Partridge and Scotty T were told to pick two housemates they wanted to put up for eviction after they were branded the "clean housemates" for following Gillian McKeith's detox plan.
The former 'EastEnders' actress, the ex-'The Only Way is Essex' star and the hunky actor picked Jeremy and Stephanie "with a heavy heart" to face the axe because they've had enough of the pair's flirtatious relationship.
Scotty T, on the other hand, decided not to follow suit and put Tiffany up after she lashed out at him for "mocking" her.
He also picked Stephanie as he thinks it's disgusting she's been cheating on her boyfriend Sam Reece with Jeremy.
Meanwhile, after learning they were up for eviction this week, Stephanie and Tiffany launched into a foul-mouthed rant, while Jeremy took it on the chin and went to rest in the clinic.
The celebrity to be given the boot in tonight's show will become the eighth contestant to leave the infamous abode.

The 'War and Peace' star's elderly great-aunt Grania can't understand why her great-nephew is seen as a sex symbol on-screen as she thinks he looks really "bland" in real life.
Speaking on 'The Jonathan Show', which is set to air on Saturday (30.01.16), he said: "I have this great-aunt, Great Aunt Grania, she's 91 and she sat opposite me at lunch recently and she looked at me in this quizzical puzzled way and went, 'I don't understand how you can look so good on telly because you're so bland in normal life.' "
Since he landed the role of Andrei Bolkonsky in the British-American television serial, which first aired earlier this month, the handsome actor has been given the tagline 'Phwoar and Peace' and says there is a lot of "pressure" that goes with living up to the expectation of being a heartthrob.
Asked what he thinks of the nickname, he said: "Phwoar and Peace, you can't really pay attention to it, I don't think.
"There was a lot of talk before we even did the show about the character being the Russian Darcy and I was like, 'Thanks' to Andrew Davis who described him as that because the pressure is already there."

Anastacia has reportedly been offered a large sum of money to take part in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 'I'm Outta Love' hitmaker has been approached by bosses to compete in the next series of the Ballroom and Latin show after she charmed backstage staff when she performed on the BBC One programme in November.
A source explained: "She has been approached early so she can make accommodation arrangements as she is based in America. The insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She isn't a huge fan of reality TV, but knows how special 'Strictly' is in the UK and how many viewers it gets. Her people have told her it's a cut above the other reality shows out there."
Meanwhile, the last few of years have been a struggle for Anastacia - who suffers from Crohn's Disease - as she was forced to undergo a double mastectomy in 2013 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time.

Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox are dating.
The 'Downton Abbey' star - who played Lady Edith Crawley in the ITV drama - has reportedly fallen for her co-star Michael, who played her on-screen servant, Andrew Parker.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Laura and Michael struck up a great friendship during filming last year. They started off as mates but quickly realised there was chemistry there and decided to start dating.
"It's very early days still but they are really enjoying each other's company. The best part is that since the show ended they have had a lot more time to spend with each other. Before that, most of their time together was at work."
The pair were spotted walking hand in hand through London's Hampstead Heath, appearing to confirm their new relationship status.
Meanwhile, at least Laura will now always have a companion to remember the popular show with, as she previously revealed she found it difficult to leave Highclere Castle, one of the locations where the show is filmed.
She said: "It was very strange saying goodbye to the castle. It felt like, in a split second, it wasn't our home anymore. And, of course, it was never our home. It was the Highclere Castle. But it felt like it for over six years."

Lewis Bloor has wanted to kiss Jess Wright since he was 11.
The 'Only Way is Essex' star came under fire after he locked lips with his co-star late last year while she was romancing Pete Wicks, but he has admitted he doesn't regret the passionate smooch because he's wanted it for so long.
He said: "Jess - she's beautiful. I've known her since I was nine years old and I'd been waiting for that kiss for 15 years!"
And, although the pair have managed to patch up their differences since falling out over the tongue twisting kiss, the 26-year-old hunk has decided to move away from the beauty.

Asked if he's thinking of quitting the programme, he told Star magazine with a giggle: "Absolutely not. Why else would you watch if it wasn't for me? Everyone else gets along. I'm looking forward to spicing things up next series."

Lauren Pope hasn't ruled out a return to the 'Only Way is Essex'.
The 33-year-old businesswoman turned her back on the reality TV show last year, following five years on screen, in order to focus solely on her company Hair Rehab London, but she's left the "door open" for a potential return.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I wouldn't return at the moment but maybe down the line. I think it's good to keep that door open.
"I still watch it but for now, my brand is what I want to concentrate on. It has its ups and downs."
The blonde beauty, who was known for standing her ground on the show, has admitted her decision to leave the programme came after the "six solid weeks" of filming began to play havoc with her personal life and business.
She explained: "It can be really fun and other times it's really stressful and that was affecting my day-to-day life. It's like six solid weeks where you can't really book things in, get to meetings and I couldn't go to abroad for DJing."
And it's not just her working life the show caused issues for as she also found it hard to hold down a relationship.
She said: "As soon as you go on one date on 'TOWIE' they want to know if you're moving it forward.
"I found it a bit cringey because I don't really want to sit with someone I barely know and have a talk."
Meanwhile, although Lauren would consider rejoining 'TOWIE' in the future, for now she's busy working on her new spring/summer Synthetic Range and has just unveiled 'Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry as the new face.
