‘Transformers 5’ will be called ‘The Last Knight’.
Director Michael Bay announced the news on his Instagram account and also revealed the shooting on the next instalment on the action sci-fi franchise – which focuses on giant transforming Autobot robots Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack and Grimlock – will begin filming in Cuba "this week".
Alongside a short clip that featuring Optimus Prime and the title ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’, he wrote "My Next Film – starting production this week in Cuba. #autobots #transformers (sic)"
A post on the film’s official Instagram account (Transformersmovie) captioned the same clip "Calling all #Autobots: Optimus Prime is ready for battle. Are you? #transformers (sic)"
Mark Wahlberg will return as Cade Yeager from ‘Age of Extinction’ and took to Twitter to share the news.
Alongside a link to the teaser trailer, he penned: "This guy is a machine. Optimus Prime just made his first appearance on the #transformers Instagram (sic)"
‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is due for release in June 2017.
The 44-year-old actor will be joined by 14-year-old Nickelodeon actress Isabela Moner as the female lead, comedian Jerrod Carmichael, whose character is yet to be revealed, and Peter Cullen, who voices the part of Optimus Prime.
Steven Spielberg will act as executive producer on the Paramount Pictures title and the script has been written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Ehren Kruger, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan.
The ‘Transformers’ movie series – based on the toys created by Hasbro and Tomy – kicked off in 2007 and catapulted actors like Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox to global fame.
