Trainspotting 2 set for release next January

‘Trainspotting 2’ is scheduled for release in January 2017.
The long-awaited next installment of Danny Boyle’s highly popular black comedy film has finally been given its release date two decades after the original hit arrived on screens.
A 45-second online clip – which was created using footage from the original film – was shared by the Sony Pictures UK Twitter account to mark the first day of shooting of the flick on Monday (16.05.16) along with the announcement that the sequel titled ‘T2’ will hit cinemas on January 27 next year.
Little is known about the film at the moment but it’s believed Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle will reprise the roles they first played in 1996.
Carlyle, who is expected to return as "psycho" Begbie, believes the script for the new film is "absolutely fantastic."
He said earlier this week: "I’m basing this on nothing other than the fact that the production office is on Bathgate. There’s a clue there. What I will say is that all the characters are exactly where you would want them to be.
"The strength of this new script is the fact that the narrative is a bit stronger than it was in the original … I think it’s an absolutely fantastic script. John Hodge has done a wonderful job, as he did with the original."
