Top Gear’s new presenters revealed

‘Top Gear’ has landed its first female presenter in 15 years.

The German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, 46, will join Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc as they present the forthcoming revamped motoring show later this year.

Speaking of her new gig, Sabine – who is the first lady to present the show since Vicki Butler-Henderson in 2001 – said: "I grew up next to the Nürburgring and have been racing for most of my life, so the chance to combine both driving and filming was too good an opportunity to pass up."

However, the presenting line-up isn’t just limited to three big names as Irish former motorsport team boss Eddie Jordan, motor journalist Chris Harris and TV presenter Rory Reid have also been signed to co-present the popular programme when it hits screens in the spring.

Taking to his Twitter account this morning (11.02.16), Chris, 49, uploaded a photograph of the full line-up and captioned it: "Morning from the new ‘Top Gear’ team. All present and correct and smelling of eau de petrol (sic)."

Meanwhile, the announcement comes just weeks after Chris, 49 – who was pulled in as the replacement for the old presenting line-up Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – teased that some "big stars" would grace the track this year.

He said: "Hopefully we’re going to have more stars, bigger stars. We want to work with Los Angeles because we know ‘Top Gear’ is vicariously the biggest chat show in the world."

‘Top Gear’ is set to return to screens on May 8.
