Tony O’Callaghan will return to ‘EastEnders’ this month.
The former ‘The Bill’ actor will head back to Walford for a "brief return" to take on the role of Jean Slater’s (Gillian Wright) husband Ollie Walters, who has made sporadic appearances in Albert Square since the couple moved to Brighton in 2015.
A message on the official ‘EastEnders’ Twitter account read: "Tony O’Callaghan will be reprising his role as Ollie Walters when the character makes a brief return to the Square later this month."
Gillian returned to the soap in March alongside original Slaters, Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and ‘Big’ Mo Harris (Laila Morse), but Jean she has kept quiet when faced with questions about her marriage.
‘EastEnders’ added: "With Jean returning to Walford earlier this year, alone, and avoiding any questions about her marriage, are we about to learn the truth?"
Jessie recently admitted she "couldn’t have asked for more" from her Albert Square return.
She said: "I’m so excited to be back in Albert Square, and knowing what [show boss] John Yorke has in store for the Slaters, it’s a really exciting time to be here.
"Add to that working alongside Lacey [Turner], Laila [Morse] and Gillian [Wright] again, I couldn’t have asked for more.
"As soon as I put on her leopard-print coat, slipped on her shoes and added her red lipstick, Kat was back."
Lacey Turner – who plays Gillian’s on-screen daughter Stacey Fowler – has welcomed the return of her ‘EastEnders’ family.
She said: "I have loved every minute of having the Slaters reunited. We have laughed so much, it’s like they have never been away.
"I think it’s fair to say that things aren’t going to be quiet in Walford now number 31 is full of Slater women."
