Tom Hollander cast in new drama Us

Tom Hollander is set to star in a BBC adaptation of ‘Us’.
The ‘Baptiste’ star will play the lead Douglas Petersen in the upcoming drama series based on the 2014 novel of the same name by David Nicholls.
‘Luther’ star Saskia Reeves will play his wife Connie and Tom Taylor of ‘Doctor Foster’ plays their son Albie in the four-parter, alongside the likes of ‘Gentleman Jack’ actress Sofie Grabol, Iain De Caestecker of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ fame and ‘Curfew’ star Thaddea Grahams.
The plot follows the couple as they head out on a tour of Europe and Douglas tries to win back the affections of his wife, who has fallen out of love with him.
Tom will also executive produce the series under Bandstand Productions alongside the tome’s author.
In a statement, the 51-year-old actor and executive producer Hannah Pescod said: "We are delighted to be working with the great David Nicholls in bringing his beautiful novel to BBC One.
"The trials of the Petersens will strike a chord with many – a family tale for our times."
David is thrilled to be working with a "wonderful" cast and crew and teased viewers can expect "something funny, touching and beautiful".
He commented: "It’s a huge thrill to see the novel come to life, and with such a wonderful cast and production team.
"We want to make something funny, touching and beautiful, to really explore marriage and family life, all against this incredible backdrop."
Whilst Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, added: "We feel so honoured to be bringing David’s beautiful novel to BBC One and to have the brilliant Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves playing the leading roles. We are thrilled to work with David and Drama Republic once again and also with Bandstand Productions on their debut drama for the BBC."
‘Us’ will hit screens later this year on BBC One.
