Tom Ellis has confirmed ‘Miranda’ is "in talks" to return to TV.
The 38-year-old actor starred as Gary Preston – the love interest of titular main character Miranda, played by Miranda Hart – in the BBC comedy series from its conception in 2009 until its final episode on New Year’s Day in 2015, and has now revealed the cast are "talking about" doing more episodes in the future.
Speaking to HuffPost UK’s ‘BUILD’, Tom said: "We’re talking about it, yes. At the moment, it is difficult and it’s just about scheduling and getting us all together in the same room, but we are talking about doing a few bits more in the future. That’s as much as I can tell you at the moment."
It’s not the first time a new series has been speculated either, as earlier this month it was reported that Miranda and Tom had been discussing the idea of penning a script for the comeback of the British sitcom.
A source said: "Miranda and Tom are meeting in the next fortnight to discuss what a new series would look like and how they’d take on the story of her and Gary. This will be music to fans’ ears."
Tom previously hinted a more episodes of ‘Miranda’ in "the next couple of years", and confirmed he was due to meet with the "wonderful" 44-year-old actress.
Speaking previously, Tom said: "We may be revisiting ‘Miranda’ in the next couple of years. She is wonderful. I’m going to see her in the next few weeks."
‘Miranda’ came to an end with two specials in the festive season of 2014, with one airing on Christmas Day (25.12.14) and the other airing on New Year’s Day (01.01.15).
In the final episode, Miranda and Gary finally tied the knot, much to the joy of fans across the country.
