Tom Daley wants to become a full-time television presenter.
The 23-year-old Olympic diver – who secured the bronze medal at the 2012 competition – dreams of having his own show on the small screen one day but, at the moment, he’s having "fun" creating his YouTube videos and competing in the sport.
Speaking during his talk at Cheltenham Literature Festival, he said: "I am having a lot of fun with my YouTube channel and I would really like to expand that and hope in the future I can be a TV presenter, which is something I really enjoy doing.
"Who knows what I would present? But it would fun to do something, I just like talking to people, meeting people. I also like travelling, eating, cooking and anything to do with adrenaline and any kind of bungee jumping, sky diving – not the sort of stuff I can do while diving. That kind of stuff I am all over."
The sportsman was just a youngster when he started diving off the boards but he has admitted, despite his success in the water, he’s not a very strong swimmer.
He explained: I was eight when I first went off ten metres.
"I had a moment when I was 11- I was terrified. It’s the height of two double decker buses and a car on top. You have 1.6 seconds to get to the water, you can break your back or split your skin. It’s gymnastics into water.
"People assume I can swim. Yes I can but I’m not very good at it at all. I struggle with a whole 50 metres- I am literally dead by the end of it."
