Tom Daley Goes Global has been axed

‘Tom Daley Goes Global’ will not return for a second series.

The Olympic diver’s ITV 2 show sees him backpacking around Thailand and Australia with his best pal Sophie Lee, but after failing to bring in more than 400,000 viewers bosses have reportedly decided to turn down the idea of a second series.

A source revealed: "While Tom is a nice guy, not much happened on the show and it is no surprise that bosses are not wanting to do another series."

However as the 20-year-old star will be preparing for the 2016 Olympic in Brazil next year, it’s been suggested that he never intended to do a second series.

An ITV spokesman said: "Tom Daley Goes Global followed a specific period in Tom’s life, as he took a break from his diving regime to embark on a gap-year experience and travel the world. As such, it was only ever intended to run for one series.

"But we love working with Tom and having him on the channel."

Meanwhile, due to Tom’s Olympic training regime it is also unclear whether the athlete will be returning for a third series of ‘Splash!’ which saw celebrity contestants attempting to learn how to dive under his guidance.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tom has a hectic training programmed planned for next year, ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

"So it would be impossible to secure time with him to do another edition of Splash!

"But Tom has become a regular face on ITV2, having appeared as a guest on Celebrity Juice, Xtra Factor and Britain’s Got More Talent and we expect to do more with him."
