Tom Daley felt wave of love when he held his baby

Tom Daley admits the first time he held his baby in his arms it was a life-changing moment for him.
The 24-year-old British Olympic diver and his husband Dustin Lance Black welcomed their son Robert into the world via a surrogate in June and Tom admits he felt a wave of love like he never experienced before when the tot arrived.
Speaking about fatherhood on UK station BBC Radio 2, Tom said: "I know everybody says, like, having a kid is their greatest achievement and I don’t think anyone can understand what it feels like to hold your child for the very first time until you actually do it and it was amazing. Your perspective changes massively."
Talking about why he and Dustin found a surrogate in the screenwriter’s home country, he added: "The process [of how surrogacy] works, we were out in the States, and we were actually doing a documentary about the process of surrogacy because here in the UK, the surrogacy laws aren’t quite up-to-date and in turn, it doesn’t really protect the surrogate or the intended parents so we actually did it over in the States. My husband is American, one of us was going to do it in our home country and in the States the laws are there to protect the surrogate and the intended parent so much better so yeah, we chose to do it out there."
Away from fatherhood, two-time Olympic medal winner Tom is focused on his sports career, food and health and he has written a new book ‘Tom’s Daily Goals: Never Hungry or Tired Again’ which he hopes will to help people lead a "healthy and happy" lifestyle.
Explaining his inspiration for creating the tome, he said: "The whole idea behind it is from being an elite athlete for so long, I’ve learnt so things about how to be happy, healthy and have the most energy, not feel hungry all the time and never feel tired and that’s the whole point behind this book. There’s seven habits so even if you were just to do a few of them, you can really help improve your lifestyle, the way you feel, your productivity. It does help, like even things like sleep, lots of people don’t prioritise sleep. Especially now with a baby, I know I’ve said it but he’s been so good with sleeping at the moment, I’m not looking forward to when he starts teething and all of a sudden there’s no sleep again.
"I’ve also been trying to make sure that all the ingredients you can get in there, you can get in your local shop, you don’t have to go to a specialist store to get anything and they’re all pretty quick and easy."
