‘This Morning’ won the Daytime Programme at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards on Tuesday (10.03.20).
The popular programme – which is presented by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – won the prize ahead of ITV rivals ‘Good Morning Britain’, which is hosted by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, at the event at the Grosvenor House hotel in London.
The news may come as a particular disappointment to Piers, 54, who once branded the ‘This Morning’ co-hosts as "snivelling little b****rds".
Elsewhere at the event, Fiona Bruce was on handed to claim the award for Best News Presenter, and Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were named the TV Personality award winners.
‘Gavin & Stacey’ – which returned to TV screens over Christmas for a special, one-off episode – was the winner of the Entertainment Programme accolade, and ‘The Great British Bake Off” claimed the Best Food Programme prize.
Greg James – who hosts the iconic ‘Radio 1 Breakfast Show’ on BBC Radio 1 – won the Radio Personality gong, and Kellie Bright – who stars as Linda Carter in ‘EastEnders’ – was named the Soap Actor award winner.
However, ‘Coronation Street’ was the winner of the Soap of the Year gong.
Meanwhile, the Netflix series ‘The Crown’ – which chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II – won the Streamed Programme award, while ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’ – which is hosted by the former England football star – won in the Podcast category.
