Theo James had a month’s stunt training for ‘Divergent’.
The 29-year-old actor plays Tobias ‘Four’ Eaton in the forthcoming sci-fi film and wanted to ensure his character as the leader of the Dauntless – a rebellious group who pride themselves on their bravery – had a "powerful physical presence" on screen.
He explained: "We had about a month of training, which was great. I wanted my character ‘Four’, to have a powerful presence physically so you felt you didn’t want to mess with him!"
Although ‘Divergent’ has been tipped to be similar to ‘The Hunger Games’, which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, James insists it’s about "identity".
He added in an interview with We Love Pop magazine: "It’s actually quite different. There is of course crossover, the strong female lead and a future where the world has gone through some kind of catastrophe war, but generally that’s where the comparison ends. It’s more about identity."
‘Divergent’, which is based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth, stars Shailene Woodley as Beatrice "Tris" Prior as the female lead and will be released later this month.
