The Voice UK coaches excited by trio twist

‘The Voice UK’ coaches are looking forward to seeing how having trios on their teams will change the show.
The new twist to the traditional format of the ITV contest will see groups of three battle it out for a place on Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs’ teams, and they are all excited to see how the dynamic will be shaken up.
Jennifer believes it will make for a "much more fun" experience for both the coaches and the viewers at home.
She said: "It makes the Blinds that much more fun and interesting. When you hear one voice, you think ‘hmm, I wonder if they’re older or younger’, I wonder if it’s a male or female.
"But now we have trios it’s like … ‘who is singing what?’"
Whilst Tom believes having trios means "average" singers have the chance to shine.
He said: "Sometimes you can get three average singers but when they come together with their harmonies they become something else, which is great."
Olly has already let slip that each of coach has a trio on their team.
He said: "All four of us have got a trio each – it wasn’t intentional, it just happened."
Black Eyed Peas star will – who is in a trio with his bandmates – says that the trios will need to have a strong bond to make it.
He added: "Friendship. When the bond is 100% real. It’s not about money, it’s not about fame."
The spinning-chair talent show’s host, Emma Willis, is also looking forward to seeing how it works, and is intrigued to see how it will work in the battle stages, if a trio goes against another group of three.
According to Digital Spy, she said: "It adds another layer, doesn’t it? Trios. What I’m looking forward to in the battles is finding out how they make that work.
"And what happens if there’s a trio against a trio? "That’s a lot of voices to make work together. Or even a trio against a duo. Or four voices when it’s three against one."
‘The Voice UK’ begins on January 5 from 8pm on ITV.
