The royals ‘must find a meaningful peace deal’

The royal family "urgently needs a meaningful peace deal", according to Tom Bradby.
The 52-year-old journalist – who interviewed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2019 – has warned that in light of their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family, a "no-holds-barred, sit-down interview" with the couple could be disastrous for the monarchy.
He wrote in the Sunday Times newspaper: "To state the blindingly obvious, we just don’t know what comes next. If their co-operation in the ITV documentary was qualified honesty, what would the real deal look like?
"I have some idea of what might be aired in a full, no-holds-barred, sit-down interview and I don’t think it would be pretty.
"I suspect the royal family would carry British public opinion still – perhaps only just – but its international standing is a key part of its value to the British state. If that were to be tarnished, it could be very damaging indeed."
Prince Harry has already been summoned to meet Queen Elizabeth on Monday (13.01.20).
The 35-year-old royal will be joined at the meeting at Sandringham by his father Prince Charles and his brother Prince William, with Duchess Meghan poised to join them all via conference call.
And Tom has insisted the royals need to find a satisfactory resolution to the situation as soon as possible.
He said: "The days ahead will be challenging. Perhaps one of the few positives is that the entire crisis has pushed Prince Charles and his elder son closer together for the first time in years. Harry might allow himself a wry smile at that.
"But the family urgently needs a meaningful peace deal with the young breakaway couple, because a protracted war would be very bloody indeed."
