The Royal family are "huge" fans of ‘Victoria’.
Show writer Daisy Goodwin heard on the grapevine that the British monarchy were glued to the TV and loved watching the hit period drama about their ancestor on Sunday nights.
She revealed: "I know someone who is a very old friend of the Queen’s and I was told that the royal family is enjoying it hugely. Whether that means the Queen is enjoying it, I don’t know.
"But I know that other people in her circles are enjoying it."
Fans of ‘Victoria’ were devastated when the first series came to an end on Sunday (09.10.16) when "sexy" couple Queen Victoria and Prince Albert – played by Jenna Coleman and Prince Albert – welcomed their first child into the world.
A second series has been commissioned but the British monarchy, along with fans of the show, will have to wait a year before it airs and though it was hoped a Christmas special would come at the end of 2016, Daisy revealed ITV bosses turned down her pitch, something which she thinks they now regret.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "They went ‘Umm…’ I bet they are wishing they had one now."
Meanwhile, Jenna revealed she was reluctant to play Queen Victoria at first but when she researched the monarch she realised it was "impossible" to turn the offer down.
She said: "I think when taking on something so iconic, and someone who really existed, I think there’s also going to be concern that you can do it to the best of your ability.
"Ultimately, the more I read, the more it unfolded in front of me and it was impossible to turn down.
"I think I would crazy if I do. It’s a gift. It’s an absolute gift to be able to explore and try and bring this to life."
