The Hairy Bikers turned down Dancing On Ice

The Hairy Bikers turned down ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The culinary duo, Si King, 51 and Dave Myers, 60, have revealed that they spurned the opportunity to appear on the ITV skating competition because they have "delicate ankles" which would not be ideal for the slippery rink.
Speaking to The Daily Star newspaper, Dave said: "We did turn down ‘Dancing On Ice’. I have delicate ankles. But let’s say these offers are discussed on a job-by-job basis!"
Despite his reluctance to skate, Dave did appear on the eleventh series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ back in 2013.
The Hairy Bikers achieved huge success with their cookbook ‘The Hairy Dieters’ – which won a National Book Award in 2012 – which shared the recipes which helped the friends lose around six stone between them.
The duo, who burst onto the TV cooking show scene with their calorific man-sized meals, both realised they had to do something about their fitness when they filming in Turin, Italy, and were both struggling to cope with heat as they exerted themselves.
Si said: "Celebrity diets aren’t really us – it’s all up to each of us to cut our own groove, I remember when we were out in Turin filming a show and we were making the world’s biggest chocolate cake and both melting and sweating in the heat because we were so unfit.
"That’s when we knew something really had to change. We’re just two old blokes. But just look at the pressure all of our unhealthy lives are having on the NHS. We should all be responsible for helping ourselves."
Dave added: I used to eat a pack of butter a day! Now I use Benecol instead which is a revolution. We love food and learnt to experiment with that instead."
