The Duke of Cambridge congratulates England Under-20 football team

The Duke of Cambridge has congratulated the England Under-20 team for winning the World Cup.
The 34-year-old royal, who is a President of The FA – has reached out to the young squad after the Young Lions smashed their match on Sunday (11.06.17), beating Venezuela 1 – 0, which marks the first time England have nabbed the world title accolade since the senior team won the trophy over five decades ago.
In a statement, which has been shared on the Kensington Palace Twitter account, it reads: "Huge congratulations to England on winning the U20 World Cup – high hopes for the future of English football!"
Prior to the congratulatory message William – who has three-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with his wife Duchess Catherine – penned a letter to the team wishing them good luck, and stating how proud he was of the sporting people for their success so far.
The note, which was also published on social media, read: "I am writing to congratulate you, the support staff and the squad on your immense achievement of reaching the Under-20 World Cup Final this Sunday. It truly is an incredible journey you have been on and I and the country are rightly proud of your success so far. In becoming the first England team in 51 years to reach a World Cup Final, you are, undeniably, writing history and I look forward to a bright future for our national game.
"Looking ahead to Sunday, I know the whole country will be supporting you as you take on Venezuela. I have every faith you will rise to this final challenge and I send you my very best wishes for the game."
