The Duke of Cambridge attended a ceremony in Belgium on Wednesday (07.06.17) to mark the Battle of Messines Ridge centenary.
Prince William visited the country yesterday to take part in a day of commemorative events and to pay his respects to those killed in battle that took place on the Western Front near West Flanders during the First World War in 1917.
During William’s visit he accompanied the Taoiseach, as well as Princess Astrid of Belgium to the Island of Ireland Peace Park where they laid a wreath to commemorate the brave fighters who lost their lives.
A photograph of William during the ceremony has been shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram account, which read: "Today The Duke of Cambridge visited Belgium to attend a day of commemorative events marking 100 years since the Battle of Messines Ridge.
