The Death of Stalin wins 3 BIFA prizes

‘The Death of Stalin’ has won three British Independent Film Awards.
The Armando Iannucci-directed comedy-drama movie picked up a hat-trick of accolades in some of the nine newly-created craft categories ahead of the main ceremony in London on December 10, including the Best Casting accolade for the movie’s Sarah Crowe.
Nicole Stafford and Cristina Casali won Best Make Up & Hair Design and Best Production Design respectively for their roles in the film, which stars Jeffrey Tambor, Steve Buscemi, Olga Kurylenko and Michael Palin.
‘Lady Macbeth’ picked up two gongs for Best Cinematography and Best Costume Design for Ari Wegner and Holly Waddington.
Jon Gregory was awarded with the Best Editing prize for ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ and his colleague Carter Burwell took home the Best Music accolade for the movie.
The Best Effects award was won by Nick Allder and Ben White for ‘The Ritual’ and Anna Bertmark was handed Best Sound for ‘God’s Own Country’.
After winning two of the craft accolades, ‘Lady Macbeth’ could also do well at next month’s main ceremony – which will be hosted by ‘Sherlock’ star and co-creator Mark Gatiss – after the motion picture topped the list of nominations with 15.
The plot of the movie – which stars Florence Pugh and Cosmo Jarvis – follows a woman in 1865 who is trapped in a loveless marriage to a much older man and begins a passionate affair with a man her own age.
