Taron Egerton would ‘kill’ to play Han Solo

Taron Egerton would "kill" to play Han Solo in the new ‘Star Wars’ spin-off.
This week, the 26-year-old actor was named as one of the favourites to portray a younger version of the character, who was made famous by Harrison Ford in the sci-fi saga, in the prequel.
Taron claims he has had no contact from anyone on the Disney production team about the part but has publicly declared his interest in acting in a galaxy far, far away.
When asked if there is any truth in the rumour he is in the running to play the space smuggler, Taron said: "I’ve heard this rumour, yes, I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that. It’s very, very flattering.
"I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am."
Taron was named along with Jack Reynor and Alden Ehrenreich as the three actors in the frame to don Han Solo’s famous black waistcoat.
Taron can currently be seen as titular British Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards in comedy biopic ‘Eddie the Eagle’.
The English star learnt to ski for the role but admitted he wouldn’t be brave enough to ski jump like Eddie did at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
He said: "I had no interest in ski jumping, it’s terrifying and you have to be a crazy person. I learnt to ski for the movie, I’ve never skied before so I went out to Germany a couple of weeks earlier and learnt to ski. The whole experience was made a lot easier because I had a very beautiful German ski instructor. That’s one of the joys of being an actor, you learn new skills!
"I’ve never skied before, I really enjoyed it though. I can’t claim that I took to it like a duck to water. I don’t think I’m brave enough "to carry on skiing)."
