Susanna Reid has been offered £1 million to move from BBC to ITV.
The ‘BBC Breakfast’ host will have the chance to quadruple her current salary if she makes the switch, and her current employers are preparing themselves for a battle to stop her departure.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We know how hard ITV has been coming after her, so it must be a tough decision.
"We thought she was very happy here but they’re pulling out all the stops."
However, in December Susanna proclaimed her love for the BBC and insisted it "runs through" her.
She previously said: "If you cut me open I would bleed BBC. I said when BBC Breakfast moved to Salford that the BBC runs through me like a stick of rock – nothing has changed."
The move is still said to be tempting though, because it would mean an end to her five-hour commute from London to Salford.
A spokesman for ITV – who insisted Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly are still a big part of their plans going forward – promised "changes" were being made.
They revealed: "There has been a review of ‘ITV Breakfast’ and some changes will be announced in due course."
