Suranne Jones has given birth to her first child.
The ‘Doctor Foster’ star and her husband Laurence Akers have welcomed a baby boy into the world and the actress revealed the wonderful news at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards on Friday (11.03.16) night.
The pretty brunette accepted the Best Actress prize via a recorded video message during which she said: "Sorry I can’t be there but I have a good excuse."
And, in a statement a representative for the 37-year-old star, added: "Suranne and Laurence were delighted to welcome their son into the world last week."
Suranne revealed she was expecting her first child in January, seven months into her pregnancy on the red carpet of the National Television Awards in London.
The excited star couldn’t hide her joy and told reporters at the glitzy event: "Me and my husband are so thrilled. We’ve been married nearly a year-and-a-half now and what a wonderful way to move our marriage on and we’re delighted."
Meanwhile, this year looks set to be a busy one for Suranne as not only will she have a beautiful baby but she will also have to start filming the second series of the hit show.
The programme will see the actress reprise her role as trusted GP Gemma Foster as well as take hold of the producing ropes.
She explained: "We start filming in September. It will be similar in set-up and will follow Gemma. I’m Associate Producer this year so the script isn’t under lock and key this time. I’m part of the collaborative team this year."
