Supermarket Sweep set for ITV move

‘Supermarket Sweep’ is reportedly being moved to ITV after the success of its comeback series.

The popular game show – which was originally hosted by the late Dale Winton – was rebooted last year with Rylan Clark-Neal at the helm, and bosses have decided to promote the programme from ITV2 to the main channel for a second run.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "ITV were delighted with Rylan and the show on ITV2, so it’s going back to where it belongs on the main channel.

"It rated well and it is just what they want to lift the nation’s spirits in these odd times.

"They hope the nostalgia trip, with Rylan at the helm again, will put a smile on the country’s face."

The 31-year-old presenter enjoyed taking the reins on the revamped show, and although he had fun with some of the "characters" taking part, he was stunned by those who couldn’t answer the quiz questions correctly.

He previously said: "We’ve had some real characters on. But some of them don’t know the sky is blue. I mean, it’s ‘Supermarket Sweep’ – the questions aren’t exactly hard."

Rylan admitted he felt a lot of pressure hosting the show in place of the late Dale Winton, particularly because it was the first time he’s taken a job and not been able to seek the blessing of the presenter before him.

Asked if he’s been feeling the pressure, he told heat magazine: "Er, yes! Are you insane?

"This is the only job I’ve inherited where I’ve not been able to speak to the person who did it before and say, ‘Do you mind?’

"But I think it’s been going well. I’ve been trying to do Dale as much justice as I possibly can."
