Anton Du Beke would "give it a go" dancing with a man on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – but is concerned how same-sex couples would be judged on the show.
The 52-year-old pro dancer would be up for being paired with a guy on the BBC ballroom and Latin show, but isn’t sure if same-sex couples will ever be "a thing" on the programme, because the judging criteria would have to change.
Speaking at the TV Choice Awards at London’s Dorchester Hotel, he told BANG Showbiz: "We’ll have to wait and see if it’s ever a thing.
"My only thing about it is how they would judge it. It would be interesting to see how they’re going to judge it.
"If you’ve got a same-sex couple, you’ve got two girls dancing together or two fellas dancing together, it’s not the same as a boy and girl dancing together.
"So from a prospective of judging it they’d have to find a criteria way of doing it. Once they’ve done that I think it could potentially happen, but we’ll have to wait and see.
"If they give me a fella I’d give it a go, why not?"
Anton has been paired alongside TV presenter Susannah Constantine for the upcoming ‘Strictly’ series, and he has been "wonderfully impressed" with her after just one day of rehearsals.
He added: "We had our first day of training today and I was … I don’t like to say pleasantly surprised … I was wonderfully impressed.
"She did very well for a first day. We got a lot done and some good stuff. So I’m really delighted – I can’t wait until the first show now."
Anton also hit back at Brendan Cole’s comments from earlier this week when the former ‘Strictly’ pro dancer predicted an "early exit" for Anton and Susannah, admitting their pairing was "way too predictable".
But Anton said: "Brendan Cole has always been a bit like that, he’s a bit neg. He’s got a bit spiteful hasn’t he? I do love him.
"It’s difficult for him to say anything much, he’s only seen the group dance."
