Stormzy goes down a storm at surprise Camden gig

Hundreds of Stormzy fans descended on London’s Camden for a surprise gig on Friday (24.02.17) afternoon.
The rising grime star – whose real name is Michael Omari – debuted songs from his first studio album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ performing ‘Shut Up’ and ‘Big For Your Boots’ at Castlehaven Park in north London.
His set went down a storm, and we don’t mean Storm Doris, as the clouds broke free and the sun shined as he performed songs from the record, which features collaborations with Lily Allen, Kehlani and J Hus, inside a cage.
The 23-year-old MC – who is from Croydon – enjoyed the surprise show so much that he took to Twitter to announce a second one at 4.30pm at Babmaes Street in Piccadilly, east London.
This morning a whole host of his celebrity pals took to social media to praise his debut effort.
British pop megastar Adele wrote: "This fine man’s album is out today. Good luck darling @stormzy1 stormzy.com (sic)"
And Ed Sheeran – who he performed with at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday evening (22.02.170 – also sent him a message of support with a link to their remix of his number one single ‘Shape of You’ from his forthcoming album ‘Divide’, which they did at the ceremony held at London’s The O2 arena.
He wrote: Check out the @Stormzy1 remix of shape of you – his debut album is also out this week. Grab both on iTunes plz thanks (sic)"
