Steven Moffat is ‘out of ideas’ for more Doctor Who

Steven Moffat joked he’s "out of ideas" for ‘Doctor Who’.
The former showrunner – who was back this week with a new short story he wrote featuring Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord called ‘The Terror of the Umpty Ums’ – has played down the chance of returning to pen an episode of the series itself.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he said: "I’ve always said, and Russell [T Davies] has always said, I’ll come back when there’s an emergency. Well what do you call this?
"But no, I think that ‘Doctor Who’ has to change hands and have new creators, new people involved.
"And remember, I wrote a ton of them! I think I’m out of ideas. I don’t have a single one left."
However, he was glad to have the opportunity to write a story featuring the current Thirteenth Doctor.
He added: "It was lovely to get a shot at Jodie, but I think Doctor Who’s suffered enough at my hands."
Steven’s short story – which was posted on the official ‘Doctor Who’ BBC website – introduced fans to boy called David, who is actually a DeathBord 400 called Karpagnon with plans to end the human race.
However, his reign of terror is cut short when Jodie’s Doctor starts to give him advice.
The story itself features plenty of Easter Eggs and callbacks for fans to enjoy, including some connections between the current Time Lord, and Moffat’s own stint in charge of the show.
The ‘Doctor Who’ universe has been helping fans and keeping them entertained during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with online entries and online watchalongs of classic episodes.
Earlier this week, it was reported that full-cast audio dramas based on the BBC series are being made available to download for free every Monday on the Big Finish website.
‘Doctor Who’ fans are being encouraged to register for a free Big Finish account, which will allow them to listen to ‘Doctor Who: The War Doctor – The Innocent’, the first of the free releases from Big Finish.
The audio drama stars John Hurt and tells the story of the War Doctor’s recovery on the peaceful planet Keska.
