Stephen Rahman-Hughes’ wife hates his ‘EastEnders’ character.
The 49-year-old star admits his significant other Anjalina Mehra is not a big supporter of Walford dentist Adam Bateman, and she doesn’t like it when Stephen is "a bit too convincing" as the character, who has been doing the dirty on Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton).
He said: "She’s not a fan of Adam. It has to be said. If I’m a bit too convincing on the screen, she’s like, ‘Oh, that’s a quality I don’t want to ever see again.’
"But she watches the show, she’s really supportive.
"Unfortunately for her, as with most actors, she’ll have to read scenes with me – so she lives those moments before they’re on screen, and knows what to expect."
But Stephen believes Adam cheating on Honey with Habiba Ahmed (Rukku Nahar) seems "quite tame" compared to some of the storylines Albert Square hardman Phil Mitchell has been involved in over the years, and he would love to get his teeth into some really hard-hitting plots throughout his ‘EastEnders’ career.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "I look at all the characters and I want a bit of everyone.
"I would love to have some of Phil Mitchell’s crazy storylines.
"Adam’s cheating plot seems quite tame in comparison to some of the stories Phil has had over the years.
"It would be nice to play out some of those things and experience some of the things that Steve McFadden has had to do."
